Was going to go with leather but...

Well I was going to put aftermarket black/chapparall leather in my Nordic Green Sport Package; but I really like the alacantra-esque cloth seats--I think I'll just put the money into changing my speakers out--and do the leather later. Any opinions/comments/suggestions?

i got the cloth and i must say i love it, plus i think it holds you better in the curves, more and more sports cars are ending up with cloth interiors, take the 350z for instance, the touring comes in leather, while the track (more expensive, more sporty version) is cloth interior. I'd stick with cloth, although nordic green is the perfect color for chapparal, that british roadster appeal hehe.

I had cloth and got the aftermarket leather. I can't imagine going back, aftermarket leather is WAY better than the GT leather/vynl combo. The only time I don't like having the leather is during an Autocross, but I think i'll just buy seat covers for those events so they don't get scuffed from passengers jumping in and out of my car.

Very happy with my cloth. I think there was a long thread about cloth seats a while back, that you might want to review. In sum, as I recall, people were very happy either way they went.

I do think the base stereo needs better speakers. In the audio and electronics section they have some pretty simple speaker upgrade ideas. I may take the plunge soon.

In Canada we only have 2 trims, GS (cloth) and GT with Leather, HID lights & Traction Control. As I really wanted the Traction Control (I'll be driving my 8 in the winter) I had to get the leather. I would have prefered the cloth seats.

I have cloth seats and like them very much. They aren't your crappy cloth seats of years ago.

On a side note, I happen to find the base audio system pretty solid. Its still better than my 330 BMW with the upgraded Harmon Kardon (sp?) system. The BMW's sounds crisper, but I can turn the volume up a lot more on the RX-8 system.

RX-Hawk--
Do u have any more pics of your aftermarket leather? As far as th sound system goes--it is acceptable--but it lacks clarity and tight bass--I'm not even talking about the type of base or "Bang" that comes from a sub. It just leaves me yearning for a little bit more.

I did not buy the GT package specifically because I did not want leather, saved me some cash too.

aftermarket is always better, a lot of people do not like the BOSE, and prefer the standard speakers. I thought they both sounded pretty good for stock speakers.

Since I switched my cloth interior to aftermarket leather, I have the stock cloth seat covers... I'll swap them for your leather ones if you're interested

I have some pics via the link in my sig, and also, I started a thread earlier in the Multimedia and Photo Gallery about the leather install results.
