Going from D to M..

Can this be done while driving or does it have to be done at a stop? I don't want to test it out in case something screws up. Sometimes I'm driving around town in regular drive and want some more power getting on to highways so going into manual would be nice right that instant.

No... it won't hurt your car. It's designed so that you can switch over to M whenever you want to.

Automatic... phhh!

I have driven a VW and an Audi with the "sport" autos and you can go from drive/auto mode to manual mode w/o stopping. I don't see why it would hurt, it wont change gears or anything by doing it.

give the person a break...maybe.

could be they got the car used with no manual or maybe they just 'missed' something all should already know.

and sure, why not...
I don't read manuals from cover to cover as I should. women indicate it is a guy thing sort of like no asking for directions. hell, I had my wing for years before I realized the darn antenna folded down. so long as I know about the oil, when to take it in, find the switches and such I'm good until I have a question.

some of us read every thing, others figure most of it out without the book.

not everyone on earth is a rx8 club member that was told all the answers about the ride or maybe did not get a manaul.

anyway...
continue your flames as I'm sure many will.

and an aside, while out on the ride with a mg club yesterday I hit 101 engine was smooth. not looking to do top speed but had it around 75 then just figured what the heck, at least take it to triple digit since it was a two lane long road and no traffic nor police

You can change at any time you want at any speed it won't hurt, that's what the setup is for, the driver can choose at any time to switch between modes.

People can trash talk all the time

Then when I trash talk, ppl decided its immortal and everybody just jumped me, couple of morons actually PM me and talk crap.

Whyyyyyy goooooddddd WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!

Tell you the truth, There is a secret shifting pattern to get an extra 20 hp Mazda hide from your AT shifters. First go D, Then shift to M at 20 mph in Gear 1, then shift it to the highest Gear right away(4 or 6, depends on ur model), then slowly accelerate until you reach 55, Then immediately shift to R.

This will enable Racing Mode, something like the Newest GT-R has.

ITs just that Nissan is generous about it, Just a flip of the switch in the center console, Mazda do it only When they test their cars on a Dyno
