I'm getting the wheels painted black on my winning blue rx8...just wanted some opinions

You should post some pictures of it in its current state.

My vote goes to gloss though. Matte finishes look like primer to me most the time. Hard to pull off.

 

I'd do Gunmetal grey in gloss I think

J/K, matte always gets the nod in my book.

 

Gloss, but a gloss finish to semigloss paper IMO. Too glossy and it will look like ****, and too dull looks rice.

Well the wheels were painted yesterday, I asked for matte but halfway through he kind of convinced me to stick with more of a semi-gloss, which I think looked a lot better.
Unfortunately the paint job didn't come out so great so I'm going to try get it re-done.
I'll post pics when I'm happy with it.

My 8 is just like yourz except for the wheels ( I Like both).

Mine are Enkei GF-1 18 x7.5 38 offset (15 spoke also).

May I ask your wheel specs?

 

sorry guys havent put any pics up yet. Wheels look good now, blue wheel nuts are on order
I think they look too shiny in these photos but they look great up close and personal. Been pulled over twice for no reason since theyve been painted (bloody p-plate )
