Getting tinted tommorw
 

Hey guys, im getting my 8 tinted tommorw I was thinking of 15% in the rear and 35% up fronts. Don't want to go too dark since im in california, what do you guys think of this set up? I want the tints to blend nicely. Is there anything I should do before I take the car in tommorw? wash the windows inside and out?

and if its a good shop doin the tint for you they should clean your windows before they do it

check around....the brand of tint can be a big factor, who ever you get to do it, ask for references to previus customers.. I opted to use huper optics#30 , awesome product, great heat rejection. the installer was recommended by other friends, this was put on in 2005 and is still great with no blistering and bubbling. researching is your best friend. be kind, later....

I don't even think it's worth tinting any 8 unless you get limo all the way around. The thing is, you'll still get pulled over for 35%, so you might as well go with 5%.

I have 20% on all of mine, and I love it. Its dark enough that it looks good, technically I think its illegal. It is a little dark for backing up in dark areas, etc, but it still works. Any darker I think would be a pain and impractical for me.

Not in all places.. I think 20% is legal in Florida.

^I don't have any tint so i couldn not tell u what is legal but what i do know is there is some dark tint around here for sure!

I have 35 up front and 5 in the back, ive never been pulled over and it looks darker in the front due to the dark interior.

35 front/ 5 rear.

Got pulled over 2 times for it, 1 ticket in 3 years.

I got one ticket for having limo all around, and that was because I was careless and didn't check the freeway off-ramp when I passed by it. Got it written off by a friend, never took it off. One ticket in a year and half? Fine by me.

I'll probably even get limo+20% all around on my next car.

Well aside from thefact front window tint of ANY type is illegal in CA....:uhh:

i wouldn't mix your tint though. pic something and go with it all around. mine is 20% and perfect for my tastes but i wouldn't mind going darker next time.

I had 22% on my civic, imo, too light for me. Going for 13% with my 8!

No tint for me that way when ppl that want to break in can see that there is nothing in there and i'm not hiding anything!..

don't you get hot down there in fl? i wanted tint to keep cool and i live in rainy seattle!

A/C while driving and when it's been sitting in the sun for awhile just open the doors and let the hot air come out with a/c running then you're good to go! I guess I never had tint in any cars so i don't know what I'm missin

WOW, nice 8. i love it, 17% will do just fine for me then :) thanks so much, and just wondering, what color are your rims (technically speaking, i know their black :P e.g. flat black, glossy black, or just black)
and last question, done with jacking!!!!! did you get it lowered? i read through your sig, and no where mentioning, any suspension mods

def get a tint if you live in a southern state, even if you get it lightly, you will appreciate it, but you should go as low as you legally can, worth it, car looks better, and is ALOT cooler inside.

thanks man! those are some quick pics in the parking lot so she is really dirty. my rims are glossy black but look more flat when they're all dusty. they're my winter wheels so they usually stay that way. and i don't have it dropped at all. i'm on stock suspension but when i measured the height the other day i got 26" in the rear and 28" in the front so i think my system in the trunk must be weighing it down a bit. ;)

My tint is 10% all the way around with a 5% eyebrow.
The cops around here are pretty cool about it too.
My friend has had 5% for over a year and not a single cop has said anything to him.

It seems as though everyone thats has gotten 20%, 15%, 10%, etc. all regret it and wish they had it darker. Get 5%.

i have 35% on the sides and 20% on the back windshield. i don't regret not going darker at all. i think it's the perfect amount for me. it's what is legal around here so i don't have to worry about a cop pulling me over and it keeps just enought sun away without affecting night driving.

I've had a few different tints... 20% all around, 5% int he back + 35% in the front...

When I get the 8 tinted this year, I am going with HP Quantum+ 19%

Thewulf, your car has some pretty impressive dyno numbers for a mustang dyno. I have the same performance mods + a midpipe and I dynoed at 190 on dynolicious on my iphone :lol2:

I just recieved a pearl white RX8 at Christmas. The TEXAS heat is awfull. I am going with 35 front and 5 in back. I am also having them put 5 on the side wing windows (Not in compliance w/TX law). Will get it done sometime this week before it starts getting too hot. Just in time for spring break in PA.

I believe i have 35% on front windows and 15 in the back. Strikes a nice balance between keeping the car cool and letting cops look in when walking up to the car. (It may not help, but it shows a bit of respect and that could be enough to get off with a warning).

In CA. 5% is legal on the rear windows and back windscreen. 70% (IE. nothing) is max for front windows and windshield (except for a 4 inch strip at the top of the windscreen)

No tickets yet, and I've had cops sitting right next to me at lights.

I had whatever was legal in Mass and didn't take anything off the fronts when I moved to CA. As far as I am concerned they can kiss my hairy ass.

i just roll down the windows when i'm near a cop. then they can't see. ;)

two layers of 5% on the sides and back... and some 20% on the windshield... aw screw it. Spraypaint FTW!!!!

I'm scheduled to get some Madico Wincos 30/20 on my 8 Monday. Am a bit concerned about the potential blind spots if I went 5 on the small rear windows. Should cut down on the summer heat considerably either way.

Tint in 8's look great, I'm glad I got it too.
