In Texas we dont have the sniffer so as long as your not throwing a SES or code you will pass.

the cat is a federal mandate.
some states just don't enforce it much.

if you get the midpipe, you'll get a CEL unless you can mask it with something like an AP.
I'd suggest looking at a resonated pipe like BHR's so you won't attract too much attention

I know when I was in pa and they did a safety inspection the inspection guy had to "see" a cat....yeah it could b gutted or whatever( i lived in a non emissions county) but they had to be able to see it....

I would keep the cat and just swap it back on for inspection!...

where Im at in PA they check for a CEL and sniff the gas cap luckily, no tailpipe test and they didnt put it on a lift just jacked up a corner removed 1 wheel to check brake pads, my old Talon loved it here

I may just get a test pipe and Mazda Maniac Cobb AP with the stock exhaust as well, Im not feeling a fart can for the 8, I like listening to the intake and being able to think or conversate in this car.

^Agreed, Id keep your cat and swap back if you need to.

well "suposedly" my bother in law knows a guy who will hook his personal car up to the emmision to test it. but if thats not true then it seems like alot of hassle. and yes texas had a very very strict emmissions law if your car isnt a 'classic'
