Getting ready for my 1st oil change?

I have read numerous threads about oil changes and what type of oils to use, synthetic vs. conventional, its going to be synthetic for me. My question is how do you get the oil from the oil coolers and if I am unable to do so, will the mixture of regular and synthetic cause me problems? Also should I use 5-20 or 5-30 Royal Purple synthetic or does it matter?

No problem....

There will be absolutely no problem mixing the two.

You can't get the oil out of the coolers, pump and filter - what I did was drain the dirty oil, then refill with some cheap 5W20, drive round the block, then do my change to the "good stuff". That way knew I had mostly fresh oil in the system.

It's just a feel-good thing!

I'm still not 100% sure about using synthetics.. They don't really burn as clean or as fast. I tried it the other day with some of my neighbor's synthetic oil.. They do mix fine though. And If you were to go synthetic.. Why not follow at least half of the manual and use 5-20.
