Getting my first RX-8 on Sunday!

I'm very excited to be taking possession of my first RX-8 this weekend. I found a great deal on a titanium gray 04 with 60K. This site has been a great help in learning more about the rx8. What a great resource. I just have one question though. I need to put a hitch on it and was wondering if the universal hitch I found at Walmart will bolt on ok? Just kidding!

I do hope that you realize that once you go "piston-less", there's no going back...only ROTORS will do. Enjoy the rotary zooming...

Well I picked her up today! I love it so far, but unfortunately as today is Sunday the dmv is closed so legally all I could do is drive it straight home with no registration. I did go around the block a couple times. One thing I noticed is my clothes smelled slightly like gas after the hour drive home. Is that normal? Also it seemed a little sluggish at lower rpm's. I know it is a low torque engine of course. If I rolled on the throttle in say third gear it would be sluggish then at about 5000rpm it would really pull hard. Does that sound normal. I think I will replace plugs, wires, and coils just to be safe. Beautiful car!! I'll post some pictures tomorrow. Thanks for any advice guys.

Gas smell is not normal. You might have an exhaust leak. Possibly a fuel leak. Either way, get it looked at ASAP.

It does pull hard at higher RPM. The transition between not pulling and pulling is a bit subjective, but 5K is probably within the range.

Ok thanks. I'll take it in in the morning. I just ordered new plugs, wires, and coils. Thank god for the DIY threads! lol. I don't mind putting some money into it as I got it for $9500 (04 with 60k), but hopefully an exhaust/gas leak will not be expensive. I'm sure the seller would cover it anyways. I'll post some pics tomorrow.

Took it to the dealer today to have them do a run through. They said it was running rough as I expected. Had them change the plugs since they only charged $160 with tire rotation. That made a big difference. All flashes and recall work had been done on it. So I'm just going to change the coils and wires and fluids. I LOVE this car!!! It has an aftermarket intake Ready Racing REVI on it. Anyone know anything about this one? Also if you look under my volume **** you can see a built in radar detector controller/remote. Don't have the actual radar detector but thought that was cool. Check out the pics!

thats the remote display for the Valentine One radar system. Unfortunately you still need the detector for it to work.

Yeah, too bad the radar wasn't included. Looks like they are about $400.
