Unfortunately here in Florida my city trip is 20 miles with about 8 lights along the way that I hit the rest of the time im cruising around 45-55 miles an hour at either 4th or 5th gear. the alternative is about 25 miles highway with 2-3 tolls along the way....

My other question is general crusing speed what RPM/Gear do you normally cruise at?
That range is about normal. I know what you're talking about, when the idle dips a little lower than 700 you can feel a light shudder but the idle will just go back up to around 750 - 800.

After hooking up some OBD 2 sensor reader (measured instantaneous fuel economy), my buddy and I found that being in the highest gear possible for your speed will net you the highest MPG. When I'm in "fuel saving mode" I'm in 6th gear by the time I hit 30 - 35 mph. In 95% city driving, it increased my MPG from 14.5 MPG to 18.5 MPG on average.

Of course that means you have to sacrifice some fun =P But there's always time for fun!
