Gas mileage

I currently have a 2004 RX-8 GT I thought it was supposed to get 18\24 mpg and lets just say I'm far from it, averaging about 15 mpg combined HW and city is this normal for the RX-8? I shift it at about 4000 to 5000 (thats what the dealer told me to do) due to the fact that the rotary likes higher RPM'S. What is everyone else getting???

You really should have searched dude. You may want to remove this thread before the flame fest starts.

It's normal. But if you want to improve your mileage a bit, shift at around 3500 or less when you're driving normally. The rotary does like high RPMs nonetheless.

If it is low mileage, your about right. Mine opened up to 19-20 around town after about 10K miles. Dunno why.

Also, Kansas maybe has winter gas. Not too good for MPG.
