Galpin Mazda blew up my car!!!
This got me thinking, could we have a sticky or something listing dealerships that 8 owners have dealt with and how good/bad their experiences have been?
After all, these cars are nothing like piston cars and it's easy to see how a bad mechanic can really screw one up. If I lived in LA I sure as hell would want to know to stay away from Galpin Mazda. There are two dealerships in the town I live in (Little Rock) and I'd love to know how well they have done servicing 8s.

Im glad you're ok but I would b in that dealership raising hell that is ridiculous they said it's a fuel line right? mazda replaced the motor which means THEY were the ones that were supposed to tighten everything....I would b in that dealership 24/7 till they did someting
this story still gives me goosebumps. as with everyone else, i say sue Galpin. they've been known to rape people with their prices, service, and overall outcome, but everyone puts up with it. blowing up someone's car? that's going too far IMO
wow. that is unbelievable. Rotary Rasp you are remarkably calm about this. like many other posters said, i would totally pursue legal action, not just for damage but also for potentially personal harm that could've happened to you, especially since their service manager was so nonchalant. what scumbags. for some reason i thought galpin was an ok dealer but guess not. shame shame
Glad you survived, but I wouldn't let them off that easy. No damn way. Much as I hate lawyers, I still think you should, at minimum, get a consultation. The dealership's negligence cost you your car, and ALMOST cost you your life. And they don't even pretend to give a ****? I personally wouldn't be able to let that go.
give me a new car NOW!
I can't believe some people would just let this incompetence slide and watch idly as someone walks all over them.
If I was you, I'd consider it my DUTY to my fellow citizens to sue the **** of these ***** so they will think twice before doing another hack job on someones car.
It's dangerous, costly negligence and it should not be tolerated.
At very least file a complaint with BB

Once again sorry to hear about this Rodger. But I would still go after the dealer. They had the fuel line off and you had nothing to do with it. As was said your lucky to be alive. I would sue the crap out of them.
Also bump for the Best Footwell Lights available.

Dang.. Definitely go for their jugular vein.. imagine if that car had gone sky high and with you in it!
Glad you're ok, those pics are quite powerful.
Detonate the manager's car, see how he likes it. Eye for an eye.

If you hire a lawyer, make sure that he coordinates with your insurance company. They could be entitled to first dibs on any judgement: best to make sure that's covered. Also, it seems like the insurance company's expert judgement on what caused the fire would be important evidence.
