FYI....going into retirement

I was asked to sorta disappear from here by Mazda, mostly due to my opinion lol. I guess somebody on here mentioned my SN and said I said something.....absolutely dont worry about this, I am not in trouble in any way but the fact that anyone is approaching a dealer with my background in knowing how a dealership runs over 5 years of working at one and also now my background at Mazda I probably said something that they didn't want someone to know or something.....honestly I dont know, or care since I either post honest facts or personal opinions.

In the end I was told I represent Mazda and they dont want me to say something that can get myself in trouble, they need me there on the line and they know I am not afraid to approach with ideas/thoughts to any boss at any time so it sorta ends up in my posts I suppose to. This is in no way a big deal, they simply said lay low for a bit but in the end the wife and I want a kid someday soon and since she is fulltime in school I handle the bills so the job comes first to me with my life and I will do anything to keep it. My decision is to simply disappear from here, I will post pics when I sneak into local rotary meets for a drive in the company car and anyone can email me or befriend me on facebook and message a question. Dont be upset at Mazda for this, its more or less my own fualt since I tend to post my own opinion which represents the company in the end and some people may say things that can reach the company and they know who I am in the end since I told them that I hang out on here.

I just hung around the tech ?'s and general questions too much and said things without thinking in the end I believe, or it was a simple question someone called the hotline with, I dont know. No worries though, look me up if you want to...or dont. Enjoy your rx8's, hopefully when I borrow them down the line and go to a meet I can meet some of you. Later

Just please don't decide to remove any of your posts. Insider info is always appreciated.

It's actually pretty sad that Mazda feels you should not talk the truth about things that are going on in your line of job. I don't think you posted company secrets or anything... but it was of course very useful to know about certain stuff you are able to see. Why did they think it hurts them is not clear to me but whatever. Sorry to see you go, hope you'll be around someday again and be the same frank guy as before.

This does not exactly increase my appreciation towards Mazda as a company for sure.

Cheers.

Thanks from Canada. Really appreciate what you've done for the community.

I especially like your post about the Speedsource 5w20 thing haha...somebody probably don't like it even though its all marketing stuff and experienced racers/teams all doing it.

As long as it doesnt blow up the engine or hurt performance, get whatever crap you can put on the car for max sponsorship

I was told basically that I said nothing wrong at all but my SN came up and that they dont want there ever to be anything said wrong down the road from my SN since they consider me valuable to the line.

For all I know they may have said something good about me but I was asked to sorta keep it on the down low and its easier to go off the radar for good.

I just didn't want to disappear without a explaination on you guys and have you asking questions for me on here and think I was hiding anything or quit lol.

This is fairly common procedure. I know a few people who have been in this situation (notably one on a Macintosh forum that got a job at Apple).

Speaking from experience, you can get in a lot of trouble for what you say on the Intarwebs. Let me tell you, losing your job because you expressed an opinion in a persistent format really sucks. It's one thing to say it verbally, it's another to be a moron (like me back in 2002) and write it out for others to read.

Good luck!

sleepy-z, I'm sure you'll do what's best for you and your family.

I'm a good judge of character, and you really seem to be someone who is free of bullshit or pretense, yet is competent in what he does.

I would want to work with or employ someone just like you.

Mazda is shortsighted if they're letting you go for stating non-confidential or proprietary info on this or any other forum.

The insight you provided, (including the renewed faith of this community in the quality of the Mazda re-man engines!) has been a breath of fresh air - you'll be missed.

Sorry to see you go. I hope Mazda did not find out your "true" identity.

It wasn't as if you were giving out state secrets.

Thanks for all you've done. You've given us a good (and positive) incite into a small part of Mazda operations.

If they ever, EVER change their minds and allow public tours, you let us know! Richmond ain't **** of a drive for me, so you can count me in!

Sorry to hear you go, but I certainly understand the situation you're in. It's good to know that if I ever need a reman, that you're on the job. Thanks for all your input. Best of luck to the both of you; med school gets a lot more fun after the first two years.
