A funny story from my dealership dude today..........

Okay,

I scheduled and dropped my '06 off for its recall look-sy yesterday. Got me a beautiful Chevy Cobalt to hide in during the duration..........

The dealership did give me a tank of gas and a free detailing..-hey, they are good guys so I like dealing with them..

Picked up my car; looked great and clean and all. Talked shop for awhile with the head guy. No problems; all is good, so I get in and leave.........

I get maybe 500 feet from the dealership when the driver side sun visor falls down in front of my face........Yup, somehow they managed to break the infamous sun visor while it was in the shop........

So...........I turn around, drive back and say "dude, you broke my sun visor". He was cool about it. Said, "let me see if we have any in stock"..........Of course they didn't. Gotta go back another day and get a new sun visor........

But the funny thing was, I asked him why he didn't keep like 6000 sun visors in stock considering the constant breakage, falling-in-lap, etc..........

He says, "I thought I did. I keep ordering these things and they're gone every time I need one!"

....................touche'

Before I drove the car off the lot, I flipped down the visor and I knew I should have bought a lotto ticket that day......

I just brought in my car today for sun visor #1 to be replaced (had the car for a month so far). It is replaced, and works fine so far; the original cracked at the seam near the joint attached to the car.

Just realized the dealership broke my console cover while in for the recalls. It stills works ok, but when I slid it back the other day to show someone my secret compartment, I found the broken plastic.

Why didn't mazda make that console strong enough to take a little weight. Just about everyone that gets in my car, driver or passenger, ends up putting some weight on it and pushing it in.

Sorry to sidetrack the thread and I know this has been discussed, but I'd never had a problem with it breaking, til now.

No sun visor problems. YET. Where do they break?

labutler, my dealer also broke my console. I havent found any plastic, but the days of a smooth glide and flip are long gone. its a shame too, cause I would always show that "secret" center storage to people in my car (took me a week to figure it out when I bought the damn thing)

The seam at the back, where the rod runs through breaks apart. You need to be careful when flipping it to put the pressure close to the back, so you aren't putting a lot of force on it by levering from the front edge (the intuitive, easy way to do things).

My first one lasted about a year. The replacement has been fine for another two years.

Yes, this is what I was told. Try to flip the sun visor down by grabbing the back near the hinge and levering it down. But then again, it never broke on me; only when it was in the hands of the professionals............

Haha, I totally feel that. I figured that one out about a month after I got mine.

I have had mine for almost a year and I haven't had any problems with it at all.
