Fuel Question

i just got my RX8 yesterday it's a Automatic, and had a fuel Qustion. whith the price of fuel i was wondering what is the right gas to use. I know it says 91 oct but wanted to know what others who have and are running in the car use. I had a acura rsx and only used regualer unleaded gas and never had a problem in 3 yrs. So are the gas companys in bed with car dealers getting us to us just expensive gas or does the car really need it.
Thanks for responce.

Welcome, but read and search a bit before posting questions that have already been discussed to death.

You can use 87 or 89, but performance will be reduced slightly. Some people report better fuel economy with lower octane, some don't. YMMV.

I run 87 and see no difference with performance, per my "butt-dyno" plus no knocking.

I run 93 when it's warm out, 89 during the winter. To me, it's not worth the risk of detonation going below 89 octane... the rotary runs too hot, and doesn't deal well with pinging.

In the week I have had mine I have used 89 and it feels and sounds good, but then again I am newbie so you know how it goes. Oh and only 89 from either Exxon or Shell.

Wink With oil prices so high,....

....when I need an oil change, I ask the guy at my local Jiffy-Lube if I can have some of the old stuff they drain from customers vehicles, lots of life left in it, and saves BIG bucks!

That's too funny!!!! I asked the carwash guy to reuse the water from the guy in front of me hoping to cut cost there. Little did I know they already do that!
