Hope someone has experience with this problem.
The rotor shaped thing in the head rest of both of my front seats are split open (they are made up of 2 rotor shaped plastic). Is there a quick fix to that? I think the clip in one of them is broken as well...

Can someone post a picture of what the seat should look like when it is not broken.

What year is your car? Are you under warranty? I would think things like this would be covered...I've never heard this one...sorry....

 

Have never heard of that happening. Hope ur car is under warranty.

 

Me neither ... I can't explain how they would break.. Maybe by trying to snap them off or on.. hmmmm?

 

mine is a 2004, warranty expired
it takes a lot of force to close it, i think partly due to the leather being stretched so tight.. i wonder what caused it to split in the first place...
anyone else with similar experience? I think i will take some pics and post them later today

i thought that too immediately... which is why i went "Wtf" but the thing is cracked in the middle.. look at it again

Where's the plastic part that covers the back of the seat. There's no leather on the back of my seat, just plastic. Look closely at the picture

 

Maybe they changed it to leather over the last couple of years because my '07 8 has leather on the back of the seat.

 

Mine is a '04, but I have no idea if the previous owner ever swapped the seats. Ya I am aware of the leather, thanks for pointing out though~ At the moment, more concerned about the plastic part... Those things that look like Socket head cap screws aren't really holding the parts together are they?

 

Looks to me like the 3 hex bolts hold the rotor accent together. I'd say that someone was messing about with the bolts and stripped the threads somehow. Easiest way to find out is to remove the bolts and see what happens. It's already broken so what do you have to loose?

 

They switched to soft seatbacks in 2006. The hard shell backs were prone to scratching and I think that was one of the reasons for the switch. I like the soft better. Your seat shouldn't have done that.
