flooding not a problem for me
After reading many of the posts on here I became aware of the flooding problem of the 8. I purchased a new 05 6 speed less than a week ago. I have been taking the necessary precautions...warm up, rev before shutoff etc. It has been quite cold up here near chicago, in the single digits. By accident I have stalled the engine twice within a minute after starting it. The car started right back up after only one crank of the starter. My car has a build date of september of 05....so only 3 months ago. I'm not sure how much of a factor this is, but I wanted to post this so to ease some worried minds.

Actually....yes, I did feel it needed the creation of a new thread. When I first came on this site I saw too many threads about engines flooding. Since the car was put in a situation where it should have flooded based on the info that I have seen. I guess that made me glad and it never hurts to be optimistic.

03 build date too. Flooded once after 2 years. It was very cold out and battery was weak and found to be defective. No problems since. I start and stop the car all the time cold. Only live 2 miles from work so the car never warms up during winter in Wisconsin.

'04 build date here. 24k miles and no flooding yet. Once I had even shut off the engine after moving it from my driveway to the street. Engine was definately very cold still. It started right up the next time.

Just details, but isn't the procedure to turn off the engine just as the rpms return to idle? I may be wrong...

the floods seem to be more likely when the cold shut off is followed by a lengthy setting period. Plenty of newbies report stalls as they learn mt and rarely have a problem when restarting immediately.

Here is a caution that I just learned today... When your car is in a shop (ie bodyshop), tell them about the warming up the engine to avoid flooding... The bodyshop I was at just flooded my car, after myself not having one single flood for over a year. It made me so angry and pissed.
