I know i am going to get a lot of laughs at this question but keep in mind thati am still a newbie.

I haave been reading this website about the different types of flashes and i have No clue what you guys are talking about. Can someone please explain to me what these flashes are and what they do?

Flashes are the revisions of the computer programming in your RX8.

The latest is the M version.

Go and get it as soon as you can.

Your engine is controlled and monitored by a computer software. It is stored in non-volatile (but writable) memory (aka flash RAM). Basically the same stuff that memory cards for digicams are made of, for example. From time to time, the software is improved due to ongoing research or data gained from sold cars. At certain points, improved versions of the software are released. Then your dealer overwrites the old software with the new one. That's called "flashing" the ecu (engine or electronic control unit).

The real question is, how good is the quality of the memory cells? But that's a different story ...
