why would you need a flame kit on a rotary car?

Yikes. So what is a flame kit exactly?

 

I think for low EGT cars it is a pilot light or spark plug or some other heat source in the back of the exhaust system to light off excess gas, since they have the fuel but not the heat needed when it hits air.


Theroy on my part though, but it fits with the few threads that have asked about it for the 8.

 

For flames, you need more than just a spark plug. You also need a coil and a switching power source (pulsed DC)to get the coil to work.

I thought I could just drill a hole in my exhaust and duct-tape a spark plug to the hole?!?!?!?

 

just duct tape a road flare to the exhaust, looks the same

 

Which direction should I have the flame point? Does pointing it backwards give me any thurst for moar speed? Up might be good for downforce, down might look cool. Forward might not be a good idea with the gas tank right there.


I'll probably have to chain them together to keep it going the whole time I drive around.

And now we all know: if you're going to try to impress your friends by shooting flames out of your exhaust, you might want to remove the gas can from the trunk first.

 

I got a TURBOXS race pipe ( no cat ) and full 3 1/4 inch exhaust. Car completely stock except for KN intake. I get flames naturally. Heard that flame kits where very bad on a cars exhaust ! but its your preference son. good luck
