OK, a confession, I do it too! I used to hear about guys who do this, never understood it, having owned a dozen cars without ever doing it. Now, I annoy my wife when I do it. Can't explain it, I just like looking at it, it's interesting. Kinda like the rear of a sportbike, or a boxer twin engine, a row of weber carbs. Can't think of too many other things in life have this effect on me...ok, a nice plasma, a fav torque wrench, *****...

10/03 build, bought it in July 2004 new. Just a tad over 19k on it now and no problems, average 20 mpg with mixed driving.

I love this car and will be driving it for a long time to come, especially since I only average a little over 6k miles a year.

I, too, have a 10/03 build date. Purchased 14 Feb 04 in Hawaii. 250 miles short of 50k. No major issues, just the "little stuff." I don't expect to have any temptations about selling it until a new body style appears. That's how I've been with my trucks (2x); it still feels new until it's surceeded with something new.

I'm doing good. How about yourself? I see that there is another EOD guy here now too. Stationed at Shaw. I can't remember his user name though.

You're right, LiveBlues. WantedTwo is also floating around on here. And as things would have it, his ALSO is a first model year. Maybe he'll see this post and reply back.

Good here, except we have 14 from the past year going on the wall in 6 days. 6 of those are AF.

I'll be at the memorial this week, dan was a good friend of mine and I'll be there to show my respects, and liz lived two doors down from me, didnt know her too well but its still hard to loose someone you saw every day. Not sure if I'm going to bring the 8 or not, lets face it she doesnt get the gas milage that my gf's sentra does...

i bought mine used with 22k miles in 05. I love the waay the car runs when its working. its def been a very rocky relationship with this car. i think i got a bit of a lemon. so far i've replaced motor, rebuilt tranny, and replaced cat converter, coils, headlight, both tailights,. and it sprung a leak on one of the oil cooler lines. like i said i don;t hold it against it i think the previous owner was brutal to it. i'm trying to keep the love for this car it just seems like everytime i'm ready to do something it breaks. hopefully everything is replaced and its gonna be smooth sailing from here. so as for feel and looks i love it every day. as for reliability well... thats not so great

That sucks. Is the wall still at Indian Head, or did it get moved to Florida?

WantedTwo- I'll be there. Now as to whether or not my 8 is there may be a different story. With all the attention it's getting from the AF this year, I just may end up being a chauffer, driving a nice blue four-door sedan with some chrome up front and a white license plate in the rear. I wish they'd let me use my car for that duty; but it just may lead to a reprimand if I scare the stars off his shoulderboards!

LiveBlues- Here's an OIF/OEF update: The Ultimate Sacrifice. Seven were students of mine...

I'll have had it three years on April 29, and I have about 55,000 km on it. And I still love it!

Bought mine used in 3/04 with 4K miles on it so I consider myself the original owner. It now has 54K miles on it and it's paid in full. I love this car!!! Dyno'd 195 rwhp and been nothing but a dream to own.

Just took it to my 2nd track day and it just keeps getting better. There is nothing more fun than smoking guys in S2K's coming out of the corners. Sure they pass me again on the straighaway but it gives me one more chance to smile and wave with the look of "see you again in a few minutes the next time I pass you in the corners. I think my instructor had more fun riding with me than I did. Every time we'd come out of a corner into a passing zone he'd say: "okay now, go get em! Get 'em get 'em! whoohoo!"

Still feelin' the love...

Yep. I've definitely bonded with my car. I recently started my third year of ownership (purchased in 3/05) and it still brings me smiles.

Cheers

I know that we probably shouldn't continue to hijack this thread, but I wanted to say thanks for the link. It made me sad though.

For those that may be wondering, the "wall" we are discussing is a memorial to all of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal technicians that have given their life defending our country and our freedom. EOD techs, past and present are part of a brotherhood that goes beyond branches of service and even countries.
