Smile First RX-8 experience

Hi everyone, I just wanted to say hello to everyone out there. I've been hiding in the background reading up on the RX-8 and I finally went to my Mazda dealer on sat to go for a test drive (I'm looking for a new car). The car is amazing and is a blast to drive. After the test drive I had a grin on my face from ear to ear. The engine makes a sound that is just so addicting. My gf unfortunatly was feeling a little bit dizzy as it's been a while since i've driven stick :D . Anways after driving the Rx-8 she insisted that we go to the Mitsu dealer to check out the Evo 8. We took a test drivein that car too but...it didn't feel the same. Don't get me wrong i love the sound the turbo makes when it is boosting but it just didn't give me the same feeling as the RX-8. I'm hoping that within a few weeks i can sell my W210 and hop into a shiney new RX!! :D :D . Thanks to everyone in this forum for making my decision so much easier. Oh also, does anyone ever get complaints about the bump that is in the passenger footwell? My gf hates it but i figure since i am the driver I can "choose" not to pay attention to he hehe.

Hi speedstarsd1, welcome! I'm surprise you've choosen the Evo over the Rx. I guess the speed itself just can't buy you over to the Evo huh? Anyway, what's the price difference between the 2? The Evo MR has just landed on our side here. For about the same price (maybe slightly higher for the Evo) the Evo just seems so much more worth it. 4.5sec. as compared with the Rx-6.2sec.
Well, as for the bump, call yourselve lucky, where I come from (righthand drive) the bump is on the driver's side. Frankly, it doesn't bother me much.
Hope you get yours soon.

How is the evo so much more worth it? It's not a sportscar. It's a pocket rocket sub compact. Talk s2000, rx8,350z,crossfire, z4 your talkin sports car. Besides the Lancer looks cheap and Mitsubishi is not known for high quality vehicals. I would'nt buy one either. No value in it. It's just another entry into the high hp arena with no regard for style. It's uuuuugly.

Frankly I would not want to go into another endless debate of the S2k, 350 blah blah blah...
Our first poster mentioned that he was looking at both the RX and Evo, so I just wanna stick within the topic.
Aesthethic. Ah, a very subjective topic. Of course personally I believe the RX beats the Evo in the styling department. But, those guys in the Evo forum might just think otherwise.
That's the reason why I choose to stay within the power/price rather than subjective topics.

By the way, I feels that there are a lot of sore losers here in this forum. When ever being compared to a more powerful car (especially in the similar price range), one would say "MY car is more stylish than yours"

Yawn

Hello? I'm sorry, I think I'm lost.... I thought I was at the RX-8 Forum. I think if you are at the RX-8 forum, than you prefer RX-8s and try to persuade using any angle. I don't think some people like being told to stay on a particular topic because it is not to one's liking. And in my opinion, I don't think people are being 'sore losers' but are just trying to convey their opinions. In fact, I think 99% of the owners on here feel like winners.
If I am lost, please direct me to the RX-8 Forum. Thank you.
LOL :D

You couldn't pay me to get into a Mitsu, not after having actually OWNED one in the past. Constant brake problems, quality control issues.. and the highpoint was someone in the service department taking a leak in the interior!

Pffft.. Meowloud is right. This is the RX8 Forum. Why, pray tell, are YOU drivin' an 8 and not a Mitsu?

I seem to have confused everyone, I was meaning to say that I will be getting an RX-8 not an evo. The evo just isn't for me. The ride is too harsh and I don't feel the interior is up to par with the money that they want for it. Sorry for the confusion! :o

No, M-ster confused your 1st choice 8 with the evo. I think he made a typo because his following line supports your rx8 decision but surprises him because the Evo has more zip for the money. We all understood what you were saying. You chose the 8.

Yes, i like the 8 much much better than the Evo. For me even though i took the test drive a couple days ago when i think back to driving it i still smile ^_^. I spent like 6 hours preparing my w210, i'll be visiting the mazda dealer this week!
