Yeah, push the DSC off button once and it will let you hang your tail out a good amount (+ spin tires etc), but will kick in once you really lose it (45 degree angle or something). If you hold the DSC off for 7+ seconds, you will see the car w/ squiggly lines icon appear and DSC is fully off at that point, you can spin 'er right round to your heart's content and it won't ever kick in. If you do the 7-second hold, you can't turn it back on again unless you restart the car.

Nah you fine, as long as no lights are on and you turned the wheel all the way left and right once (which i'm sure you've done by now), you're fine.

Thanks guys.

You're right, too. I should've read the manual.

Careful with the reset 'procedure'. If you use the brake trick it doesn't just clear your CEL. It will also reset your fuel trim via your... crap... KAM or HVRAM. Whichever it resets when your fuel trim settings are lost your 8 will need to relearn the settings. That means for a few drive cycles you are likely to experience low idle rpms up to and including stalling out at stops.

Check the sticky about clearing your CEL in the Tech forum.

Also it's always a good idea to swing by Autozone when your CEL comes on even if you're confident it's the gas cap. Mine came on ~5 miles from a gas station so I figured that was it. Checked it tho and it turns out it was related to my vacuum line from something I missed a few weeks before working on my intake.

When I had this issue (and purchased a new gas cap) I couldn't eliminate the CEL by resetting the KAM or NVRAM.
I had to wait the two full drive cycles and let it clear itself.
So give it a couple days to clear.

Especially if it's the gas cap, I'd say just let it clear itself. No point in spending extra and needless time clearing the CEL! :D

thanks all...that's exactly what i decided to do, see if it clears itself after the driving cycles. and my wife will make sure the cap is on straight with a few clicks. (although the ratchet clicks are pretty weak, like there's not much torque on the cap anyway.)

also, she was near Empty...any correlation between not holding vacuum and fuel level?
