its the people that actually have the power that instill the fear to us.

RX26b 12-03-2007 07:40 PM

^ Which literally means that we're virtually on the brink of a police State.

laythor 12-03-2007 07:44 PM

Guess I'm just one of the few that appreciate 99.9% of the police.

RotaryP7 12-03-2007 11:13 PM

Officers these days.. Are just outta control.. And I used to love watching that show Cops. Now I know, I'm on the bad guys side in which they hate the police.. Haha.. And from the stories I just read, that's more bs..

nycgps 12-03-2007 11:51 PM

maybe the mods should move this whole thread ... this is going to another topic.

Wonder how they pay the cops? giving people tickets of course !!!

Happened to me 2 months ago (almost), freaking I drop my GF off at where her mom works, at a no standing zone, its LEGAL to drop someone off at the zone, I took some napkin out to wipe the driver side mirror cuz it wasnt clean, safety issue u know. the moment Im done with wiping, the moment my gf steps into her mom's work place, the moment I saw her going in and Im about to go out, fucking NYC Traffic cop speed up like shit, I heard the engine noise coming, but I have no idea who it was, so I look out the window, holy shit the Traffic shithead just pull right next to me, not letting me go, then this Chinese dude, Officer Cheung as I recall, said he saw me parked there for a *long time* . I was like WTF ? I just dropped my girl friend off, which is legal. not to mention the no standing zone ends at 7:00pm, and it was 6:41pm ALREADY. and you're giving me this ticket? then he was like "Im just doing my job..." after that I gave up and said "Hurry up"

I was so mad that time I was about to get off and fuxking smack him in the face. Our great Bloomberg hired couple THOUSAND of these assholes just to give people tickets. He said what zero torrence policy or something. Yeah I see TONS of People double park on a 1 lane 2 way street. and other ridculous stuff. they just *disappeared*

I notice 1 thing, these fuckers, especially asswipes from the Traffic Department, LOVE TO hang around in places where Chinese people hangs out, Yep

Little Italy is right next to Chinatown, just the next block, Mulberry and Mott, @ Mulberry St, you HARDLY see a traffic Cop go pass, like once every 2 hour or something, AND they do not write notes about broken meters.

but on Mott St, I clocked it before (cuz I had to wait for my friends 1 time and they were like an hour something late), in just 1 hour of time, there was like 15 traffic cop walk pass the same block. Wtf is that ? why didnt they go to the other block ? Both street got about the same amount of cars, traffic, and parking spots Telling me thats not racist man.

Anyway, I got pulled over for routine check couple of times (when Im in my 8) For doing nothing. One time when I was going over Kosiko Bridge(check spelling), I pass this car, I signal and everything. then he put his siren on, undercover. pull me off the highway and said I was driving recklessly. I was like wtf ? Lucky that time I got it off by saying my grandfather was in hospital. and I actually have a *call log on my cell phone* that calls the hospital. he look at it and let me go (cuz its legal)

Fucking cops, AHHHH ! (I can feel that a lock to this thread is coming soon)

The Drunk IT Guy 12-04-2007 08:55 AM

I've never been pulled over in my 8, I suppose it's because I only really speed on freeways and interstates..

I used to get pulled over about twice a month when I had my 91 Camaro.. I only ever received one speeding ticket which I fought and won, but they'd harass me endlessly on my commutes home from work at night..

Worst moment was when I was pulled over for going 60 on an on-ramp. Apparently the speed limit for an on-ramp is the same as the feeder road, 35, idiocy.. I'm always submissive, engine off and holding my info so they never resorted to giving me the 40+ tickets they probably would've liked to..

I used to have a cigar box full to the top with bs warnings.. Probably had 15-20 in there over the course of 2 years... I hate my hometown (San Angelo, TX)..

tajabaho1 12-04-2007 09:50 AM

shini, they gave u a ticket for hydroplaning?!?! lol, thats off the charts

And I also heard that cops can't radar you at the bottom of any hills.. But sure, that doesn't matter to him, cause he's a police, and they can do almost anything they want.

Don't forget that I drive the same car as you. Although I don't think I would write someone with a 8 a ticket, I do not think you were picked because of the car you drive. Anytime you are stopped for radar there is a good chance your ticket can be reduced and points dropped. Radar is not really liable in traffic. Sucks you got pulled over by a cop that was a "a-hole."

I wish I would of had you pull me over instead.. The cop did say, if I went to traffic school, the 3 points would be dropped.. I don't know if that's true or he just said that for a laugh..

My opinion:

1...They should make it cheaper / easier to drive at the track...lots of enthusiasts would stop speeding and the real effers woudl get caught instead of us.

2...A speed limit of 55 or 65 is truly dumb on a freeway or expressway...why on earth can't we raise it to 75? Very hard to lobby for that sort of thing though...safety takes center stage these days and freedom is redefined as the ability to live longer...so we're all just waiting to bite the big one...sad.

chetrickerman 12-04-2007 11:37 AM

someone look up the amount of car accidents in tennesee. the speed limits on those freeways are 70mph. at least they were like 9 years ago

1. It has nothing to do with what we talked about. Even the track cost a dollar (I WISH!) people still going to drive *faster* than PoS 55 mph.

2. It is dumb, but there are *dumberererererererer people out there who cant even handle 20. Hell A lot of times in NYC I've seen a lot of old dude or Lady, driving like 35 on LIE when everybody else was doing at least 60 ... these a holes will cause nothing but trouble. but oh well. there are more dumbasses out there than smart people.

No doubt. For me, it's just a thing, every time I get onto a freeway or expressway, I need to hit at least 70.. I've seen some with speed limits at 60. I seriously can't go that slow.. First, more than half of the cars in a expressway go faster than the listed limit. Why would I stay at 59-60 mph when everyone else is doing 70+.. It's worse when it's 55, which is where I got stopped at.. And btw, in Miami, a lot of people drive reckless and speed.. Not saying I will too, but, just a stat..

Cattywampus 12-04-2007 12:17 PM

I have read the 5 pages in this thread just to see what pointless views of law enforcement most of you have. I have only responded to the original poster because I didn't want him to think all cops are a-holes. Most of you have an opinion on changing the speed on certain roads. I say go for it. It's obvious the majority hate cops for citations that you received because YOU couldn't control you need to go faster. Not the cops fault. Not sure when or where you all have heard of cops zoning the speed limits. Now you guys can hate cops because the pulled you out of your car for no reason or because you were stopped at a no parking zone while dropping your gf off at work. That's understandable.

All of you that want to change the speed limit have a legitimate argument. However everyone in here knows, inclucing me, nobody does the posted speed limit on any road. Usually in a 30 you go 40-45. On the interstate in a 55-75 you go 65-85. I run radar and see it all the time. I even do it. So if the speed in increased then not only do YOUR speeds go up the lame ass excuses of "i was only doing 10mph over." Then the next line is "we need to up the speed and that cop is an asshole. " People want to say all cops are a-holes and they don't understand what car we drive. When was the last time I came on here and defended any cop for any of YOUR citations that were YOUR fault? How many times I have given advice on what to do with YOUR citation? Last time I checked the same damn car you all drive is parked in my garage and isn't exactly stock. So your bs claim of cops pick on us because of our car:jerkit: I say up the speed accordingly, which isn't going to happen.

tajabaho1 12-04-2007 12:20 PM

in CA, most accidents happen within 25miles of your house, they forgot to mention the second part: at below 45 miles per hour

The Drunk IT Guy 12-04-2007 12:40 PM

police34

A gripe I've got is that when the common speed is 75, cops just pick out an offender from the bunch.. Limits almost never increase, so we're at a point that any cop anywhere can pull over and ticket pretty much any car he chooses to. It just shouldn't be that way.. We're effectively a big school of fish that predators feed from..

And really the ticket is not that bad, I can handle $200, $300, maybe more. I'd hate it but I could do it. However my insurance is going to increase ridiculously. It would take probably two or three tickets until insurance is simply unaffordable, all due to a couple 75's in 65's.. Hardly just if you ask me..

This is why I couldn't be a cop, my personal morals would make me a poor performing LEO..

Cattywampus 12-04-2007 12:43 PM

I have only written one speeding ticket in 3 years of being a cop. I don't write for speed. It is hypocritical on my part.

Not all are a-holes, I gotta say most, I have yet to met a cool one that is.

dropping a passenger off at a no parking/standing zone is PERFECTLY legal in NYC. Im not sure if FL is different. but the point here is that that Traffic A-Hole pull his car up so I cant go out. Forced the ticket on my head, then talk shit like *Im just doing my job* wow ... if thats not an a-hole, what is ?

If everybody has to follow the traffic rules 100% , Im sure MOSt of the cops would've to go to jail first. Like I said, how many times I've seen a cop just turn their fuxking siren on just so they can get pass that *red light*, Is that legal ? What about Dunkin Dounts? Is it legal to turn the siren on so they can hurry up and get fat faster ? and dont make me bring the speeding issue up.

My bro got a ticket for going on ramp to Williamsburg bridge @ 45 mph when every one else was doing 60+. Speed limit was 30 ? Ridiculous. whoever posted that sign deserves a death penalty !!!

Yes he did broke the law, but come on, get real, when it comes to driving he was pretty cautions, never got into any accident for 10 years.

seriously speaking, cops are overpowered these days. What happened to those 3 black guy who got shot in the car with no weapon at all with 51 times in total ? one of them suppose to get married the next day ! Just because when he was trying to back his car up a bit and *touched* the undercover cop's car behind. Got shot 51 times.

Everytime I think of *I hate cops*, I pull my Harnold and Kurma Go to White castle out. What Kal Penn said

K = Kurma
C = Cop

K - "You must be a big asshole in highschool right?"
C - "Absolutely right"
K - "and you used to pick on guys like us everyday right?"
C - "with pleasure"
K - "Well than good for you, the day came, we went to college and you went nowhere, oh how can I still give them shit? Oh yeah I become a cop ! Congrad your fucking lations your dream has come true ... "

Leesha 12-04-2007 12:46 PM

I have met cool cops. My neighbor is super cool and he is a cop. I've been stopped for speeding before and got let off by cool cops...!!!

didnt mean to aggrivate you officer. i know that not all cops are assholes, and dont just pull you over for no reason. my grandfather was a cop. i believe he was the best one. he could read a person like no other, and could tell if you were lying to get out of a ticket, or really were late for work, etc. He rarely gave out tickets, and was awarded MANY times for his good police work.

BUT, i know that you know that there are a lot of dickhead cops out there that do abuse their power.

I'm guessing the one who wrote me a ticket was a man who doesn't speed and/or drives a POS car..

But as I said before, maybe you won't be the one picking out cars, especially the 8, but I'm sure it happens.. And I believe I was witness to one of those acts on that day I was stopped.

As for a-hole cops.. I've seen some in my school as well.. One day a mustang revved his engine at a stop sign, cop got in his car and rushed to the car. That was pretty funny.. I'm positive you're a cool guy. I wish most cops were like you.. :uhh:

The Drunk IT Guy 12-04-2007 12:56 PM

It seems most woman I've met know cool cops.. They're usually hot too, the women I mean..

It couldn't possibly be that they're "cool" to them because cops like delicious boobies too??? Nah... That cant be it.. ;)

Hot women really have this over dudes and ugly gals, they rarely get in trouble.. Even if they're snot drunk and hitting people, they're removed not arrested..

tajabaho1 12-04-2007 12:57 PM

i only hate the traffic police........lol

As for your grandfather, did he let off the people who were late for work? That was my excuse. And it wasn't no lie. I told the cop, straight up, I didn't want to be late for work, and I had my name tag on too.. He just laughed and said that wasn't a real excuse.. Dick.. :banghead:

i think it would be more fun if we all carried guns and handled accidents our own way
