Fight at bar gives rx8 5+ new dents
So there was this fight at a bar last night and a guy gets trampled by a mob right onto my 8. It left at least 5 dents onto the car: driver fender, 2 on driver door, back driver door, and quarter panel. Not to mention the ones i could not see because it was dark outside and of course there are tons of scratches as a result of this.
The police had come and I got a case number for the incident. Nobody got arrested because no one was able to be ID'ed to cause it. I was able to hold the guy who's head actually hit my car, but the guy who threw him onto the car ran away. As far as fixing the dents go, do you think I should just go through my insurance, pay the deductable, get raised premiums and be done with it? or is there another way to handle this?

This is what you pay insurance premiums for. I don't see why your rates would go up, you didn't cause an accident.
EDIT: I think this would be covered under comprehensive. Collision claims are what really make your rates go up. That's why you should always aim right for a deer, instead of swerving into a ditch.

yea i do have full coverage. I've just never been in this situation before so I wasn't sure how it works. Thanks for the info.
As far as pictures go, I don't got a camera right now, but imagine a dent on the fender that's shaped like the back of the head, a dent on the back door as if you were pushed onto it, a dent on the quarter panel with an indentation of an elbow hitting it.

I zoom therefore I am.
unless your insurance is shady, you'll see no increase for filing a claim with the police report. Rates go up when you are anything over zero percent at fault and unless you were involved in the fight you're at zero.

THat sucks, but yeah, it should be covered under comprehensive. Any insurance company that wants to increase your rates from a documented non-moving incident in which you had no part is trying to rip you off and you should switch.
But I seriously doubt it. I have had ~6 comprehensive claims over the past 10 years, and not a single one raised my rates. Comprehensive, by definition, covers the uncontrollable, including damage from criminal activity (not your own criminal activity that is...)
A PD report makes it even more of a sure thing.
Comprehensive deductible is also very cheap to keep low, if you don't. My rates went up ~$70 a year going from $250 to $0 on a deductible.

A branch fell on my old mazdaspeed (figure thats the same class as a head )
but when i made my claim my rates didnt go up, im agreeing with the guy up top, think it falls as comprehensive...
sucks *** hope it gets fixed though.

The only way your rates would go up (besides your company raising their rates overall) is if your company offers a claims free discount which you were eligible for.

Always park far away from bar entrances and other people's cars!!!
Anyways, see if the victim (guy you had) can ID the other people, even if the police don't follow up. If it was a serious assault, I'd check with the detectives working it and see if they've identified the others...then take them all to small claims court to recoup your deductible and extra money for the hassle. (Take pictures, save receipts.)

not my hangout spot; its my work spot. but anyway, here are pics for your viewing pleasure. These are just the major dents, there are also a few tiny dents and scratches throughout. The insurance estimator had the damages at about $800 with paintless repair(which i prefer if possible). I won't know if it'll require paintwork until the body shop looks at it.

PDR will work, but I highly doubt it will look perfect on some of those dents, like the fender. You may have to just have a body shop fix it. Also the rear doors are aluminum...so a very skilled PDR guy will have to do it...Don't settle for anything less than perfect! GL.
