A few questions

Before I pick up my Rx-8 later this week.

1) What is the generally accepted rule for how long break in takes?

2) How low should I keep the rpm's during this break in period.

3) Has anybody taken out the factory deck, how easy is this and what kind of kit did you have to get to put in a new deck if any?

The guy at the dealer told me keep it below 4500RPM for first 600 and you should go easy for first 1000 to 1500RPM. There is no way you can keep it under 4500RPM completely.....it just beggs way to much to be driven. But I did go easy for the first 1000........"go easy" meaning never went over 8000 rpm.

Irock59040,

It looks like questions 1 and 2 have been answered but I will state that I kept it below 6k rpms for the first 600 miles. As for question 3 there are some of us looking into making a dash kit for the car. You will find the threads by doing a search under Audio and Electronics for dash kit. I am currently looking to manufacturing a kit that will essentially be a bolt on item. I am trying to keep the dash as much stock as possible but still allow you to put in an aftermarket deck. Just looking for the interest from other 8 owners.
