fender strakes

anyone have the colored strakes that match the car? or do the aluminum/chrome OEMs usually look best in the end.

I bought a pair of Copper Red Strakes to match my 8
I just prefer having the same color strakes vs chrome
Looks like you have a Winning Blue 8
I probably prefer to have blue strakes over the chrome. That's just probably bec i seen too many Winning blue 8 with aluminum/chrome strakes

From what i know the colored strakes are a bit lighter than the Mazda aluminum OEM Strakes
Plus the OEM will cost you a lot more than the color ones

I got my pair from rx8strakes.com

hope this helps

what you pay for them.. they are $80 on ebay with free shipping.. link in OP.

figured the same color of the car would look better.. being i really have nothing else chrome accept for the aluminum colored rims which I want to replace with Black. plan to paint my rear bumper and skirts black, along with hood... so with basically no aluminum/chrome.. the blue would look better. just wanted to get some others opinions.

I have the stainless steel chrome ones . Living in Chicago they hold up alot better because of the conditions. I think the chrome would look nice on blue .

On rx8strakes.com, they have strakes that will match the color of your car for $80. They also have a bunch of other ones that range in price from $60 to $220 depending on what you are looking for exactly. The $220 are the Mazda aluminum ones. I bought mine from there, and I am happy with them. My advice if you purchase the painted ones is to put a couple coats of wax on them before you install them. It will help protect the finish.

Hasn't changed - what your getting is the old ID - 10 - T error, b/c there's a dash in the URL. http://www.rx8-accessories.com/

I like the color match on anything but BB; with WWP & SS looking good with either color. Stainless for me and they look great. Search by thread title for strakes and read away . . . and away. IIRC, some have had problems with the paint flaking on the color-matched ones.

I had the SS painted plastic ones from rx8strakes.com but I switched to the chrome ones from rotary13b1.com.

do not get the painted strakes! I have them on my car and the paint has peeled off for no reason. They've been on for about 6 months, and now they look terrible. I'm going to buy some stainless steel ones as soon as I can.

I had the rx8strakes color matched to the wheel color. They fit well and look ok. I replaced them with the OEM strakes and really like the OEM more. The rx8strakes strakes are thicker and made of plastic, the OEM ones are metal.
The rx8strakes strakes also started to chip and showed serious washout from the sun on the top.
