Hey guys I have a quick question, I was driving today, and I noticed a squeaking sound that appeared to come out of my exhaust area.. I was just wondering how you can tell whether you have an exhaust leak and how to fix it properly. Please keep in mind that I'm not good with the mechanical stuff... thanks

Exhaust leaks don't make squeaking sounds. If there's a sound, it will be a loud exhaust roar.

A quick check for a leak is, with the car idling, briefly shove a rag into the tailpipe, and listen for exhaust noise coming from somewhere ahead. That used to be a standard procedure in state inspections.

But the best way to check is to go to a muffler shop like Midas. They'll put it up on the lift, and give it a good visual and audible inspection. If they find something and you ask to see it, they'll let you come into the service bay and see.

Exhaust inspection is usually free. Don't take a chance - exhaust fumes in the car can kill you, as well as whoever you run into if you fade out while driving.
