Engine swap help!

Hello Guys!

Im thinking about buying a 8 with a crashed engine. It,s a -04 and im thinking about buying newer engine. Can i put in any 8 engine or what?

Is all the electrical the same so it all will fit?

Is their anything special i need to think about when i buy a engine from another country so that nothing will go bad when i put it all together?

Can i check like some engine number so i know that it will work?

Would be really great it you could help me.

The 2004 thru 2008 are pretty much all the same. I believe around 06 there was a change in the vacuum/venting system to help keep oil out of the intake. But other than that, you should be good.

If you're getting a 'newer' used engine than please get a compression test before you buy it.

There were two versions of the engine: 4 and 6 port, with different setups for automatic and manual. In the US autos through '05 had 4 port. Manuals in the US always had 6 port. I don't know what the combinations might be for other countries.
