Engine noise question
Hey,
I've searched all over and could not find a thread to answer this question:
I bought my 04 6mt rx8 last nov with 29000 miles on it. since then I have put about 12000 miles on it so now its at 41000, yes I know i drive a lot.
Anyways a couple of weeks ago I noticed my engine sounded different when i started it up in the morning than it normally did. When I bought the car, the engine sounded the same whether it was cold or hot, the only thing that changed was it pitch of the engine noise which got a little higher as the car got warmer. A couple of weeks ago when I started my car the engine had an extra low rumbling noise in addition to the high pitcher normal sounding pitch it normally had and got louder as I started driving, esp in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear. This low rumbling noise usually lasted for a good 20 to 30 min but slowly dies away as the car gets really warm until I get the normal higher pitched sound I'm use to hearing. I talked to the dealer and described everything and they said they couldn't hear anything. I'm mainly wondering (a) should I be very concerned with this or am I just overreacting and (b) if it is a problem what might be causing it.
Just some background info:
I'm usually up by 7am when it is 40 to 50 degrees out and drive to school
the car is parked inside 50% of the time and outside 50% of the time
I average about 100 to 200 miles a day sometimes more.
The car seems to drives fine and the noise is usually only there when the car has been sitting for a while.
