Engine feedback through speakers when charging iphone

i posted in the tech section but didnt get any help so ill try it here

I recently have done the ipod integration where you splice the iphone wire to the cd player and play a silent cd. when the audio wire is plugged in, it sounds crystal clear.

however, when I plug in the charger and the audio wire, i get terrible engine noise coming through the speakers, even when i have the radio on fm instead of CD.

does anyone know what is causing this and/or how to resolve this issue?

thanks in advance

Yep. Your iPhone charging loop is poorly grounded/shielded and thereby conveying the RF transients to the audio system (high voltage ignition spark is the usual RF noise culprit).

Ground loop isolate the circuit [ultimately best to the battery negative terminal]. http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2062214

wow you two should check out the tech forum more often lol. thanks for the solution
another question though; i dont have any rca inputs to connect that to. i have a 3.5 mm to rca wire that i cut to solder to the cd player pins in the back of the stock radio.

so what would i have to do to make this work with this setup?

again thanks for the prompt responses

they make ground loop isolators that work with 3.5 mm plugs.
