Engine Assembly

can someone tell me how to distinguish the front rotor from the rear, i am presently putting an engine together and found this problem. thanks mario

Honestly, if you can't figure that part you really don't need to be putting an engine together.

Can you figure out the direction of the engines rotation? I hope so.
If you can then simply put the bevel on the rotor edge on the trailing side of the rotation.

Looking at all 3 faces of each rotor, one will have a stamp on the face (not the side) that includes some numbers, and either an F or R.

Why front and rear rotor is different ?????

Hey man, no offense, but if you have to ask...are you sure you should be trying to build your own engine?

There are chamfers cut into the side of the rotors which must align with the exhaust ports to facilitate exhaust gases exiting the engine. Reversing the rotors means these chamfers will not align any more.

thanks everybody and special rotary resurrection for answering my question. Well I am not trying to build my own engine but i had this question since Mazda has labeled with different part number front and rear rotor.

So rotary ressurection this difference that you have mentioned between front and rear rotor can we call it port phasing ?
