EMT, Medic, Firefighter

Hey just checking to see if there are any EMS guys here. I am in EMT classes now and work at a hospital here in Florida. I know that a guy in my class has an 8 too and is on here.

So post up EMS guys/gals.

I'm a former EMT/FF.
What class are you taking... EMT-B or I?
Are you currently working for a dept or just going through the training?

Yeah... its getting difficult in some areas to join a dept without having a medic and 240hr FF cert already.
Cities have been screwed from members joining the dept, the city pays for their schooling, then after their done with the classes they go elsewhere.
Reasoning is understandable, but it potentially screws other people who wouldn't have the intent on leaving the city.

Well... just stick with it and don't give up, its going to be a tough couple years.
Are you taking EMT-I or just jumping straight to medic?

Cool... some people are good at retaining what they learn, some its better to have that intermediate training so they are prepared for medic.
Anyway... good luck with you and hope things work out.

make sure you get some experience in the field before you try to jump into medic school. i made that mistake and was overwhelmed, i caught up because i was working in the field while i was in school and had to buckle down.but must admit i was way behind when i started out in school.
good luck.

Keep at it! I recently retired after 30 yrs at a large S. FL F/R agency. Lot of work, dedication and sacrifices involved but if it was easy the rewards wouldn't be there.

+1 to the congrats

I didn't even realize Fallon had a ambulance branch, they really just do everything in terms of healthcare nowadays. I always head to one of the clinics in case of emergencies (I have Fallon healthcare and the clinics are about 10x faster than the usual ERs).

I was just wondering cause I have to work with Armstrong all the time.
