Question Emissions

Based on the info that Fubar provided for VIN status, Why are some cars fitted with California emissions and some with Federal Emissions? I'm in Mass and my car will get CA emissions.....hmm

Really!? I thought they were just very transparent rain clouds.

California sets their own tougher emissions standards - but quite a few other states automatically adopt the same standards as California rather than the easier Federal standards. So it's not just 49 states using Federal standards and one using California standards (California, obviously) - I'm not sure, but IIRC there's about 11 states that have California level emissions standards required. Mass. is probably one of those, off the top of my head Connecticut is also.

Regards,
Gordon

You might want to read this thread: http://www.rx8forum.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5298

I did my best to describe the production differences between Cali & Fed spec 3g Eclipses.
