I'm interested in buying the new RX8 Shinka with the NAV option. I saw few threads today that says Shinka+NAV is not an option.

But on edmunds.com, you can configure your RX8 with Shinka + NAV option? Whats up with that? Is it available now?

 

shinka is just a package. That package does not have navigation.

kinda like I couldn't get my leather and navigation without the moon roof.

 

So you are saying if you buy a package, you cannot add any options on top of it.

no, some packages have specific items in it that you cannot add or remove.

e.g; GT package gets you moon roof, leather, HID lights, etc. You can't get rid of them, or add cloth seats.

 

While edmunds does a good job of getting the information correct, they sometimes don't go into all the details of what can and can not be put together in certain option packages. For this, the manufacturer's website is much better and usually a lot more accurate. Edmunds tracks so many vehicles and stats that they are bound to get it wrong sometimes.

Also, Mazda does not offer the Shinka Package with the Navigation. Do a search and here and there are some reasons why this is. Last years Shinka's also could not be had with Navigation. I think it is just one of those things that make them more unique from the other packages and keeps it special.
