Easy to get sideways?
On dry pavement, with DSC off, is it easy to fishtail the RX-8? I had a 1987 Turbo and I could always get it sideways on dry pavement. I'm considering an RX-8 and am hoping the rear end will come out with a bit of throttle and steering input.

With some throttle, you can definitely get sideways. The cool thing about the car is that it feels like you can take just about any turn without throttle. You get the best of both worlds.

I will confirm with DSC off with the MT tranny, you can in fact get completely sideways and with the handling its easy to get it back in control.
**NOTE: this was done on closed grounds/empty parking lot.

man I must stink at driving because when I tossed mine sideways it kicked the crap out of me. I just about ended up on a curb. I must be really overcorrecting. Althugh I do have falken Azinis so they may change the grip levels a little.

You cant just do it for the first time and not expect to lose it. I know I spun 3 times before getting the hand of it. Not to mention since I go autocrossing it has helped a bunch to learn to keep the car in line. so Now I dont lose it when I take a corner, heel and toe into 2nd, and let it rip with the dsc and traction off. But uhhhh I kinda need new tires now....lol

He was right.
Nothing compares with the 8.
Yes, and you can readily accelerate into sideways if you want to.
I love me a Wankel.

When running stock sized tires i at times find it annoying at how easy it slides out from behind. I fu**ing hate DCS so i rarely drive with it on. Anytime i want to take a hard corner i have to be sure to remind myself not to accelerate much until im at the tail end of the turn or my **** will be all over the road.
Easiest car to put sideways i have ever driven.

Yeah I have Falken 452's and they are sticky as hell so it's kinda hard to get it sideways but once you do it goes and it is pretty easy to correct especially when showing off to the 4bangers around town lol.....

As others have mentioned above, the RX-8 is very easy to get sideways in, but also easy to recover. I love the Rx-8 for this, this car can grip like no other, but if you want to have fun with it excercising proper throttle control, making nice long left hand turns going sideways through intersection is a blast!
