Dumb question, expecting a dumb answer (Please don't flame)

I was wondering, is there any way to be sitting in your car, and turn the dome lights on? I mean, w/ most cars, you can flip a switch by the dome light itself, or by adjusting the interior light brightness until they click on, and ALL the lights on the inside come on. W/ our cars, you either have to turn on the map lights AND the dome light, which even then, the footwell and door lights don't come on, or open the door.

Hmmm. I just went out to my car and couldn't find a way of doing it. I tried the dash light dimmer switch which does have that "full on" position but it didn't do anything.

I thought of this last night when I went to Wendy's and wanted to make sure they got my order right. (They messed it up the past few times.) Kinda weird I think that you can't turn on the lights.

just the over head map lights and the rear lights. All have switches only on the actual light

Don't feel dumb. I can't turn mine on either. It doen't happen often when my rear passengers need the light, so I've just accepted the inoperability.

My dumb answer - I'm a little confused by this thread. My dome light has a "OFF - DOOR - ON" swith with it. I can switch it to ON while sitting in the car and it comes ON. Am I missing something here? My car is an '05 with GT package.

Me three. The dome light has Off-Door-On.
Map lights have a slide switch Off-Door (in addition to the push switches), to turn the lights on when the door opens.

Guys, I think this is what he's trying to say. What he asking is if there's a switch that controls ALL the lights (dome, map, footwell) all at once instead of turning them on one by one. And the answer is no, all have independent switches to operate them. :D

You did a much better job of articulating the question they meant to ask. :D

You hit the nail on the head......sorry for the confusion. Unfortunantly, they don't all have switches to operate them. You still can't turn on footwell and the lights on the side of the door.

True. I think I got ahead of myself when I posted. These only come on if the doors open. :D
