Drove my 8 this weekend after 4 months

OMG.... what a good feeling.

I stored my 8 on November 1st 2004 for winter and I've been driving a old 1992 Sunbird. ouach!

So, for the first time, I was able to test my Racing Beat Suspension (F/R Sway bars + Springs + Front end links) and I also removed the divider located inside the intake.

The car felt like a race car... took curves like it was nothing... If you have the money, get the RB suspension kit.... A+

As for the divider inside the intake, I felt the car had more power and it sounds like a jet, kind of a whistle noise.... but nice sounds. specially with RB Cat back..

Just wanted to share my weekend.

PS: Another thing, I forgot how people just look at the car when you pass by...

Nice. Must have been a nice feeling taking it out again. I don't know how you do it. I have withdrawl after 1 day of not driving it; i bet if I had your crazy winter I'd have to.

What divider in the intake are you talking about?

So why can't you put winter tires on it and drive it in the winter? You know Canadian winters are almost 7 months long! Don't tell me you bought the car to drive it for 5 months! LOL .. that's only 40% of the year! I don't know if I could stand the depreciation of the car as it sits in the garage and not being able to drive it. Unless you can afford to buy an RX-8 as a summer car, I just don't get it.

I could not see paying what I pay, and loving my car as much as I do....then store it all winter. That was hard enough for me to do with my motorcycle. I live in Michigan, and as all of us Midwesterners know the winters are long, and the snow can be deep...I threw on a set up Toyo Proxe 4 all seasons, and put 160lbs of rock salt in my trunk....I made it though everything. I know the salt can suck when it comes to the paint, etc....but that's why I leased it. I would never buy the first run version of any car....I expect there will be kinks that need to be worked out....but if you have to have it....like we all had to...you do whatever you have to.

czr, take a look at this thread:
https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tech-garage-22/oem-airbox-modification-43636/

Very easy to remove, only two screws to remove after opening the airbox.

Umbra, No the dealer up here is clueless too! He wont put Tein Stechs on my car because he says then i would not be able to "lift" the car for service without the springs loosining and not seating properly when lowered. What a Dope! The service Mgr. isnt any help either. I was thinking of getting a Mazda MPV for the wife but I would rather not deal with this dealership. While I was there, there was a guy who had his MPV in for service, the dealership FORGOT to put the Cailper bolts in after servicing the brakes!!!!!! I would have been alot hotter than this guy was. HE had to ASK for a free oil change...What a joke.

Umbra & JOHNRX8,

I live in Elkhorn, Wisconsin always take my cars (RX8 and MPV) to Hall Mazda in Brookfield 262-782-5300. The reason I considered the RX8 in the first place was because the service at Hall’s is very, very good. Matt & Tom are the service writers you want to ask for, both pretty knowledgeable. I forget the Mazda master technician’s name, but he is very willing to work with you on some mods. Tell them the guy from Buell sent you, they should treat you right.

Umbra I would love to sneak a ride your car sometime, I'm interested in the Shinka’s subframe dampening.

Are either of you going to do any Auto-crosses at Miller Park this year?

No but I'll probably be up at the road america meet in august, you could catch a ride in shinka there if your comming.

Do you work for a buell dealership? The company I work for is the largest parts and accessories supplier to HD (packaging aftermarket parts, wheels, tires, speedo's, etc.) we also do some buell stuff occassionally.

Bummer. I'm having the factory wing and the exhaust finishers put on this friday and am really nervous about letting them mess with the car, they are having some guy from a local body shop come to the dealer to put the wing on. I also ordered some other parts which it's taking forever to get (it's over 2 weeks already) and they are not exactly anything that should be difficult to get.

I'm an engineer at the factory. Matt at Hall imports had a Buell Blast, Tom has a M2.

I know what you are saying about having a dealer work on your car, takes a while to build up that trust.

I also will be at the MMR at Road America. I'm not sure if im going to do the track tour though. I did last year and it was a freakin BLAST. However i now have 19's on the car and i'm afraid of rolling a tire over and screwing up the lip of the rim. At $600ea. its probably not worth it. Us Wisconsin people should plan a caravan up there, that would be fun! I will be trying Hall Mazda next time !!!!!!!!
