Here's what you do. Find Turn off DSC, TCS. Press and hold the brake. Open up the throttle in first. Release brake - you get your burnout.
A couple of things that prevent your burnouts. 1] sticky tires. New tires will be sticky. Find yourself some 4 year old tires and mount them on the car. Even if there is tread left, the tire compounds harden over time - especially if left exposed to the elements. I figure a set 4 year old tires will give your plenty of burnout thrills.
2] 50-50 weight distribution. You will need to lighten up the back-end or weigh down the front end. Fill your trunk with helium, or go on a super-size me diet and bulk up and move the driving position as far forward as possible. Or consider some bricks in the front bumper.
By the way, does your Mother know you are trying to do burnouts in her car?
Cheers :-)

So he is at least 16 AND an idiot. Get mommy to sell your car and get you a LS1 Camaro so you can burnout all day long--try not to kill yourself. What a fool.

No, no, he's RIGHT!
The rx-8 pamphlet should definitely have said, "THIS CAR CANNOT PERFORM DOUGHNUTS!"
BTW, has it ever occurred to you that your parents bought you an auto for this very reason. Now you have an excuse not only to hate your car, but your parents as well.

the type of car has nothing to do with how well it does burnouts, the only thing that matters is torque which rotaries dont have.
now sell your 8 and go buy a civic.

Actually--when I was 16 my parents got me a used 93 FD--they got the automatic because 1.) my mom can't drive a stick and 2.) They didn't want me to be rediculous. I modded it to about 280HP with the auto and it still beat about 85% of the cars I came across on street--and still handled well. I wanted a manual then but I wasn't ungrateful. You get over it. Since I bought this RX8 myself--I could not afford a M/T with all the bells and whistles--I came across my nordic green A/T with 6,000 miles on it for an excellent price--so I hopped on it. I'm a rotary fan and I know full well the capabilities (or lack of) in the A/T--but doing donuts is not an essential part of automotive life--I haven't even really started my career yet--there will be more opportunities to get into a HP monster down the line. I say all this to say you deal with the hand that's dealt to you, you should be grateful that your folks got you an RX8 in the first place. You act like you are surprised that a low torque low horsepower 4spd Automatic will be able to do v8 feats--that is pure idiocy.

Donut = pick up some speed + jerk steering wheel to side + jerk up E brake
Seems like donuts involve a lot of jerks.
Or, you could spend your time learning how to drive a car and concern yourself with car controll skills that actually matter... like cornering and braking.
I don't think I've ever seen an F1 driver "donut" or LeMans for that matter.

I've seen it in NASCAR. In F1, they have to inspect the tire tread following a race. If it is worn too low or tread width to narrow, the team will be penalized. After qualifing, they have to run the same tires to start the race. Only a moron would burn those up doing donuts after setting pole.

Get a gas can full of gasoline. Sprinkle said gasoline liberally over your a/t 8. Light match. Set aforementioned a/t 8 on fire. Watch carefully. In about 40 minutes, the fire will burn out. Voila. Burnouts for dummies.
