Don't laugh.....I have a cup holder question?

Seriously....has anybody found some device that fits atop the factory cupholders so that cups don't flop all over the place?

I luv this car but the cup holders make a mess! (The way I drive)

I hate cups, especially those fast food cups with the straws.. They're all scratching up my arm while I'm trying to shift.... But they've never tipped over..

What are you drinking, the 52oz Big gulp???

I suggest either fabricating a Walmart auto-cupholder to fit.. (Dremel?)

Or just superglue a piece of black plastic in-between the holders

Let nature take its course. The latch that keeps the console lid back will eventually break. The lid will then slide forward, wedging the drink in place.

Some people think the broken latch is a defect. It's not. It's a feature, timed to activate right around when enough "new" has worn off that you start to allow food and drink in the car.

Mazda is a lot smarter than people give them credit for.

try some type of weather stripping (I forget what its called, but i bought some to help seal and stop my trunk from rattling with two 15's in it.) Its just a strip of foam you can apply like tape.

I haven't had any problems with the cup holder,

if you really do, just use the back ones, they hold them in place nicely

I go through Tim Horton's drivethrough every morning on my way to work and get a large coffee (no sugar, double milk .. in case you care ... yeah right) ... anyway, I wedge a couple napkins beside the cup esp. where the opening is. Any overflow goes onto the napkins but I actually find there's very little mess.

I wish there was a tiny bulb in the coin tray. At 6:15 a.m., it's still pretty dark here and hard to tell how much change is in there. Pretty lame request, I know.

I have a suggestion. you might try placing adhesive at the bottoms of your cupholders, then placing empty cups of the appropriate size against the adhesive, you could then slide full cups into the empty ones and it should hold it steady. ...nevermind those cups you stuck down are never coming out again...a means to an end, yes!

Long ago when I was stupid I was watching MTV's Pimp my Ride... Some dude with health problems got a bladder with a little hose attached to the back of his seat..

Just think if you loaded that with a pot of coffee. You'd get a hands-free, eyes-on-the-road sip of jo, plus a handy dandy shoulder warmer!!

Brilliant!

...bladder with a little hose...
Hydration kit. Available at any good outdoor store. Lifesaver in the desert.

Just make sure you attach the hose to the bladder that comes with the kit.

See, and I have only compliments for the cupholders. What other cupholders hold the Arizona bottles perfectly(even the back ones!). Sorry, I'm addicted to green tea.

No drinks without caps in my car.

I usually have empty Sobe bottles around the apartment, so I wash them out and fill them with the drink of my choice when I will be driving long enough to want a drink.

Car is way to new for eating or drinking in really.

As crazy as this sounds. i use the backseat cupholders......and if i'm at a stoplight, i'll reach back there to take a sip. Unless its a Soda Can, none of my taller drinks not even water bottles are up in my front cup holders. Get in the way of shifting smoothly and no armrest

On the other side of this amusing tale, I had the armrest fly forward during a fast stop, hit my large McD's coke at 30mph on it's side, lid flew off, coke exploded, cracked the plastic cup, coke started flooding the cupholder where my cellphone was sitting along with all the previously dry napkins. Needless to say I was PISSED.

^^Sue McDonalds. The Coke was too wet, and they damn well knew it. Make them pay for a new cell plus compensation for mental anguish. It's not your fault.

I just get medium coffee and fits perfect, wide enough with a couple napkins, top closes. Never spilt yet but will probably happen.
