That's your first post?

I'm 6'1 and have plenty of room to spare.

I'm 6'1" and it is a close fit for me with the sunroof. If I am wearing a baseball cap, it brushes the headliner.

I'm 6'3 and my hair is touching. Plenty of room my ***. The sales guy even wondered if I would fit and I definitely am not fat. I weigh 165 pounds. With that said, I love them to death. But moonroofs are ridiculously overrated and would add a good 2 inches to plenty of tall people out there.

Why not just buy a Base Model? I'm 6' 2" and have just enough headroom (not enough legroom, steering wheel is too close). The GT doesn't have anything I want that the base doesn't have. It's all just extra weight.

just a silly question to be thrown out. have you tall dudes tried lowering the seat any and reclined the chair back a little?

when i first got my car my head was all up against the ceiling. i soon discovered that i could lower the chair by pushing down on the lever closest to the pedals, and reclining the chair a little back gave me like an extra 3in. for headroom.

Don't buy an RX-8 if:
1. If you never owned a real sports car- you have no basis of appreciation
2. If you are afraid of redlining an engine
3. If you don't know how to drive
4. If you are lazy about maintaining a sports car (even washing/waxing)
5. If you whine about required warmups and gas mileage

Just think, I almost went for an AT just because I like the Tiptronic style steering wheel shift levers.
No regrets with my 6spd, I don't mind going through the gears, gas mileage not an issue, fun-per-gallon is my objective.
I also own a C5, daily drive the 8.

Thanks for the opportunity to vent guys... ,

Mike

My husband is 6'3" and he easily fits into my car with the sunroof. The seat is back all the way and the back is reclined. He is comfortable and had no problem finding a driving position.

However, I'm 5'2" and in order to press the clutch down, I have to keep the seat closer than I like. I'm fine with the accelerator and brake, but that clutch has to go down a long way. I normally like to sit with my arms almost completely stretched out to the top of the steering wheel and I can't do that now.

Consider attaching a pedal extension to the clutch pedal. As I recall, there were a few threads dealing with how to do that, so do a search and check them out. There are also commercially available pedal extensions so you might try a Google search.

Personally, I think most all of it is lame. Take no offense.

In 22k miles, I have never read the manual, I drive the **** out of it (lots of redline), I have never been back to the dealer, I DO warm it up before revving the **** out of it, I average 19mpg, I track it, I never flooded, and I only change the oil every 6k miles.

I think people are paranoid

FYI, this is my 4th rotary!

No offense taken, but I think you misunderstand the purpose of the original post. The list consists of things to consider when thinking about purchasing this car. It doesn't mean that all, or even any, of the items apply to everyone and to all RX-8s. Rather, it lists for the most part, situations that RX-8 owners have experienced and have reported here on the forum and so should be considered by anyone contemplating purchasing the car. Obviously, everyones experiences with this car may differ--often differ considerably. Personally I've had no problems either and have averaged just over 22 mpg for the first 10,000 miles.

Some people are purchasing this car without doing the proper research and when they encounter one of these "issues", they often immediately want to invoke the lemon law, or sell the car. I would hope that this thread would help to educate those individuals on the potential issues with the car and perhaps save them considerable angst and/or money.

I don't want people to get me wrong, I want an 8. I just wish they offered the Bose, leather, power drivers seat etc. without the moonroof. Ironically the moonroof is optional on the new Mazdaspeed 6, which wouuldn't need the room like the smaller 8. I suppose I'll just get the base and add a sound system myself and such. It's a shame though and doesn't make much sense.

Well I'm not a big fan of sitting really far back in my seat, so I understand that its possible to get more room by doing that. I will ask the dealership if I can order an 06 that way. But the sales guy said that you can't. I guess I'll call around. Thanks for the advice. Hey even though I complain about this, I could give a rat's *** about oil changes and gas mileage. I'm ready for an 8 otherwise!

I had fun passing SUVs this morning though. With snow tires, this car does remarkable in the winter.
Maybe punishment but my guess is that the battery has not been in good shape for a while. It was warm (80's in the daytime) then drove it late at night in the 50's. If your battery was barely holding on at 50 degrees then it dropped to 22 I bet it wouldn't start either. What I'm trying to say is the warm weather was masking the dying battery.

Now that I can could see. These cars have pretty weak batteries. I let my car sit for a couple of weeks last winter and it wouldn't start.

you may be running a "real car" but i doubt your a real man...you seem to have alot of negative posts...having some personal troubles? or does making fun of someone else's car online make you feel about yourself? just curiosity as usually most people don't make random statements which serve no purpose(asides from making an *** of themselves) without offering any evidence.

What exactly is a FC and FD? what type of mods have you done? do you have dyno's you can post or any sort of evidence to show your amazingly fast unbeatable car with 40 lbs of boost?

ok, lests start... if the best defence u have against me verbally assulting your car is trying to attack me personally then quiet... secondly, if ur so intoyour rx-8s then you should atleast know a little bit of history concerning your engine... your engine is the crappy new bug ridden version of the 13B, the motor that is in a FC 2nd gen rx-7 or an FD a 3rd gen rx-7... do a little bit of research into your own cars and a little bit of wengine history before you even try to act like your crappy bug ridden version of my car is so great... lol, sad sad little man

first...I need to defend nothing...i love my car. second i know about the different generations of the rx-7's. Theres no defense against you attacking my car unless you physically came near my car. I personally think the rx-7's are amazing cars. what i dont understand is you commenting on the 8 without and real facts. Also that you claim your car is so amazing but theres no evidence of that or what you've done to it and that was a nice dodge in avoiding any infor on mods and dyno's (its hard to express sarcasm online so please note mine in the previous sentance). Also if you feel so stongly about the 8's being horrible and your car being so amazing then how about some reasons, evidence, or facts? <this excludes your opinion...and alot of new and better technologies have bugs which need to be worked out over time for example: the rx-7, microsoft windows, AOL, the internet etc...

Rotor King, you are obviously neither a Grammar King nor a Spelling King. Do you have trouble understanding English as well? You didn't respond to the post that asked what car you are driving, what mods have you done, and to post some evidence to back it up.
