Does your car overflow when you fill up? If so,...
So, I have an '06 with the damn gas overflow problem. To anyone unfamiliar with this, what happens is at the pumps the gas nozzle doesn't cut off the fuel supply at the right time, and gasoline squirts out under pressure from the tank all over the side of the car. If you're **** like me, having your gas tank replaced at the dealer is not an option. Today, I found a solution.
When you are filling up, hold the gas nozzle at the downward-most pointing angle possible. What I mean is, don't rest it in the tank, but pull up on itas far as you can. By doing this today, I managed to hear the click and not have gasoline all over me and my car. I drove around, came back to the gas station and fit in 4L (certain doom) and it worked again.

Sometimes mine overflows, too.
I usually have a good idea of how much gas I'll need. When I'm within a gallon or so of that, I'll put the nozzle down to the lowest setting. Most of the time that prevents overflow.
FWIW, the RX-8 is not the only car with this problem. I learned long ago to never stand in line with the filler neck while fueling. Always stand to the side.
