As you can see, it's all about personal preference. I like the car w/the AP, but better w/o it. I do want to put a spoiler on mine, but just not sure which one yet. Probably the MS.

One of the nicest things about the 8 is that you can tailor it like this. I think it's great that you can individualize this car so much right from the factory or with Mazda accessories after the purchase.

As for me, I ordered mine without the appearance package, but with the mud guards for a little extra protection for the paint. I debated a long time about the Rotary Accent Package, but decided against it. I don't regret my choices at all. My car has a clean, uncluttered, classy look, and doesn't look any less the sports car that it is.

The one change I made recently was to get the RX-8 center hubs with the rotor logo for the wheels. Granted, they were a little too expensive, but they look so cool!

What are you talking about? If you're talking about the appearance package, you're dead wrong. The only chips I have on are the body of the car, not on the spoiler, air dam, or side skirts.

No regrets here, I had anticipated a lot of aftermarket kits coming out however so that was my main decision for not going with it along with the extra expense. I really love the 8 just by itself with no spoiler/etc.. however so....

I like the car better without the app package. It reminds me a little of the old De Tomaso Pantera without it and I like it that way, lean yet aggressive at second look.

I'll get me a front rotary accent and maybe the strakes, though I find them overpriced. But first and foremost, all aditional red leather parts for the interior will be added.

No way...

Just my opinion, but I don't think Mazda does a good job with appearance packs and body kits. Miata is a good example -- car looks far better without all the plastic crap hanging off of it.

RX-8 looks good with rear spoiler, but the front spoiler and side aero thingys look like a cheap afterthought to me.

Regarding the strakes, the jury is still out for me...

Got mine without

Just got mine last night and thought the app package looked good, but it is to much BLING BLING, I like keeping it simple.
I got the sports package, Titanium gray.

No, I do not have the appearance package and no, I don't regret it. I prefer the look of the stock 8. They did a wonderful job and I am happy with it. I even bought rear mud flaps and returned them because it detracted from the stock look.

The appearance package is just to aggressive for my taste. Obviously there are one or two people around who would disagree ....

Woops, I thought I did not have it but it turns out I do. I am glad I got it
I thought the appearance was the polished aluminum emblems on the front and rear, my bad.

i liked the front air dam, however, when i saw the mazdaspeed kit.... i told my dealer i wanted to exchange my air dam for a MP3 player (which is lower cost) and throw in the rotary caps for the alloys. and they accepted

how much does the dealer charge if you wanna have the appearance package installed later on? Does it involve drilling holes?

I have the appearance package and the front mud guards to compliment the rest of the package, I love it, the looks, no chips on the package.

I never get close to curbs. 18000 miles and no chips on the package, just the hood. To me worth every penny. With out the package the car looks to plain.

The MS front nose is awesome! But to me its to pricey. I will wait till some one hits me and let them pay for it.

Very happy with my 8.

OH what a major crisis for a hs teenager to have. DO I TAKE A FREE 350Z, OR A FREE RX8, AND GET APPEARANCE PACKAGE OR NOT. Must be a tough life eh?b Seriously though, the appearance package is nice, and I am glad I got it, but it does not make or break the car. The car itself looks great without it. if you really want to show off and be flashy, the factory appearance package isn't for you. It's not overdone like those other kits, so that;'s why I got it. I suppose at your age you want all the flash. The mazdaspeed or other aftermarket kits will do that for you.
