different trims in canada?
well..... my celica is now a thing of the past, and i have some buddies that run a local rotary engine club. I have been looking at an RX-8 for a long time, but never seriously, UNTIL NOW! :D
My question is if i am looking for an early generation 8, what trim do i want to be looking for, AND how can i make sure that the ad's aren't mis-using the model trims.
There's a lot of GS and GT's (i assume the GT is the way to go) but there are also some ads calling it a "track pack" or "enthusiast package" or some stupid name like that.

"The RX-8 comes in two trim levels: GS and GT. They both get standard 18″ alloys with 225/45 series tires, big four-wheel discs with anti-lock, sport tuned suspension, Bose sound system with six-disc CD changer, electric power steering, dual exhaust and a full range of power utilities to complete the package. The GT adds xenon headlamps, leather seating surfaces, an anti-theft system and an optional sunroof, among other cosmetic features."
no engine, suspension, and ECU difference as far as I know.
No engine, suspension or any performance difference.
The only differences will be things like leather, sun roof, fog lights, bose, etc etc. Just "gadgets" as you mentioned

-GT has DSC/TC, GS doesn't (not even as an option)
-Automatic GS has open differential, GT is limited slip. However, all manual cars have the limited slip.
You can tell from my forum name which one I think is best.
There has never been a "track pack" for the RX-8, at least not in Canada.
By the way, I had a 2001 Celica GT-S before getting my first RX-8. If you liked your Celica, you'll probably like the 8 even more. Acceleration is a bit better, it handles a little better (which is saying a lot!) and the RWD dynamics are fantastic!
