So as a few posts would show I am going to be getting an rx8 somewhat soon. I read that base models dont have LSD? I want an LSD for sure. I read that for an AT though. To know for SURE it has LSD what do I look for? And can someone post the thread for the difference between models? I cant seem to find it. All I really care about is Bose, LSD, and nav.

 

But how do I tell what it is? When I search cars.com or autotrader.com they dont specify the majority of the time which trim level. Btw I am going for an 04-06 8

No just a regular ole LSD I guess. How do I tell in person if it came with a LSD or 1 tire fire?

 

So the base doesnt come with any sort of LSD?

 

There are 2 good ways to tell if it has an LSD:

1: If it has a moonroof
2: If it has the switches on the center console between the driver seats (for heated seats).

If one of these, or both, is present, then the one you are looking at has an LSD.

It is possible that an 8 has an LSD and doesn't have the heated seats or the moonroof, but this is actually somewhat rare, being a base model with the added performance package.

If it is a base model, then I think that you get the LSD if it also has the 18" wheels. I may be wrong, but I think that is the case. I also want to say that every manual has it, but I haven't been able to confirm that. If it has 16" wheels, then it definitely DOES NOT have the LSD, as it can't have the upgraded brakes which are present for every LSD option.

 

2009 models ar all standard with it except the Sport with Automatic..

Actually.. as long as the RX8 has the sport package (previous to 09s), it'll have an LSD

1st 2nd have lsd 3rd probably but it doesnt mention DSC or TCS so it might not

you can see the tcs off button so it a sport and does have the lsd

 

Which ones have bose? Is the 6 disc changer a bose system?

 

6 disc was a standalone option for all 3 off those. the 1st and 2nd have bose. since they each have the moon roof and cloth seats which makes them touring package

 

so i just saw a thread similar to this but im not quite sure.

I purchased my 8 about a month ago from a used dealer and it was listed as 2006 mazda rx8... I see that it has some add ons so i am wondering what trim it might be.

it has - sunroof- dsc- spoiler - 6 spd MT

It does not have leather seats - nav- or 6 disk cd changer

Now the real question. I know I can bring them down in price once I got a down. But the big thing is which would YOU suggest? If you were looking at those 3?

Mine is a 05 and i DONT have a moonroof, DCS, heated seats, nav.... Its basically the sport with nothing but a spoiler and it HAS a LSD.

 

yes Sport has LSD Base does not

 

wow...my car too is a weird model...its does not have Nav, Moonroof, leather seats and bose but it does have DSC, 18'' wheels, appearance package, HIDS and cloth seats... any idea what my model could be?

 

So which would you buy?

if it has a six speed in it, it has a lsd. and all the lsd in the rx8 are torson.

just based on the photo with the six speed in it.

if you get an auto. the lsd really does not matter so much..
