Different length stock exhaust tips
Hello,
I just noticed today that my passenger side exhaust tip sticks out a little bit more than my driver's side exhaust tip. This is a stock system, so no modifications were done. It looks as if my driver's side has been pushed in a bit. Is this normal? I haven't noticed this before.

Huge hole is huge
I've never looked...but haven't really noticed anything...might just be a weird issue from the factory. No harm done. If you look under your car, is your exhaust looking just fine? If so, shrug her off.

I've tugged and pushed on both exhaust tips, and they won't budge. From underneath, it looks okay, and everything is nice and tight, however, I don't believe that the exhaust tips were different lengths before. I would have noticed it when I clean them. How much do you think it will cost to fix. Most people won't even notice, but because I know, it feel kinda weird if I don't do something about it.

After looking a pictures online, I am sure now that the short exhaust should stick out further. From the side, you can barely see the exhaust at all. Pretty much only the bottom corner of the tip. I think I will take it to a muffler shop.

If you can get under there with ramps, you could check the hangers - see if one is a little bent.
There was an early production run that had the hanger near the differential a little too close, and it rattled. Maybe someone has been doing some 'orthopaedic correction'!
You could bend the two rearmost hangers to even up the 'stick out'.

StealthTL, that is exactly what I was thinking too. Muffler must not be mounted straight or something. I called a nearby exhaust and muffler shop which I found online. They have free estimates and inspections. I'm pretty sure that once they jack up the car, they can find out if it is indeed the mountings. I don't think that the repair will be too costly. I bet that the cause is from reversing out of my friend's driveway. There is a slant right before you hit the street level, and I always hear a scratch when I leave his place. I always thought that it was the rubber flaps that are located just in front of the front tires. Maybe, I bottomed out the muffler once or twice.

I had the same thing going on with my stock exhaust tips, and I did not have anything bent that would cause this.
It was fixed when I got my replacement exhaust tips - made sure the new ones were welded on properly
So I'd say, this occurrence is pretty much normal, or at least not uncommon.

Really? Thanks for the input Tamas. I guess the guy can reweld it, but I'm pretty sure that when I first got the car, the tips were even. I'll find out tomorrow morning. Thanks to all who responded.

Can't be the previous owner for two reasons.
1) I believe this problem is recent. I would have noticed it before.
2) It was bought brand new in 2004 with only 2 miles on it.
I haven't gone to the muffler shop yet. Woke up too late. Maybe tomorrow morning.
