Deciding on an Rx8

Momentum Keeps Me Going
Gas opinions....When I drive on the track, like going perhaps 80-100 miles at average 80-120mph, I get 8, maybe 9mph, tops.
DD I get 17-21mpg. That's like my mileage doubles! Point being, if you get the car, what you put in the tank pales in comparison to what you get out driving it so you have the cash or what's the point?
Do you not love your hot girlfriend because she's hungry and you have to feed her? All good things have a cost... Good luck finding just the right one.

That's so true, but at least you car doesn't fight back.
Mines an 05 6spd fully loaded without nav and is the shinka black cherry edition.
I would just get racing seats since they are a hell of a lot lighter (some around 10lbs for the lightest I've seen, to 20lbs) then the leather ones. When I moved my battery to the trunk I weighed it, and was around 50-75lbs somewhere in there, can't remember now.
I don't know about the airbag though exsequor, after I get back from the hospital I'll have to take the seat out, and put in my brothers racing seat and go up my road and see if anything happens. All the connectors should be the same though, but don't quote me on that one.

^ 04-05 are the ones with the most known issuses. Theres really nothing wrong with them as long as you do the proper maintenance that is required and purchase one with all recalls/tsb's performed.

Find a local RX8 club in your area...talk to the guys there..maybe ask if you could test drive around the block or something.. LISTEN, LISTEN, LISTEN. Watch their body language when discussing their cars..that'll tell you a lot..There's a lot of info to be gained in meeting and greeting people..I think people will be a lot less likely to sh*t you and will give you an honest opinion. Make a list of pro's and con's.. you'll begin to see a pattern. See if the pro's outweigh the con's for you.

Hey I'm new to the club as well. But honestly if mpg is a bit of a issue do not get the rx8, if not then buy it. The rx8 is a fun car to drive but there will be a time when you decide to buy aftermarket parts and if that is not ur style then you will be paying for replacement parts that meaning that your car is not under warranty. With taking all of that into consideration, money will be jumping out of ur pocket wether you no it or not now. I would still recommend the rx8 to a friend.
Good luck with the search.

If it were me, I'd go with the black since it's stock, that way you shouldn't have to worry about if it was abused, but on the other hand I love the blue since it shows the curves so much better. Like said before go with what you like.
For the Hp you'd have to check out the dyno section, but a rough est. would be from 10-30 and 30 might be a little high I think, but full exhaust/intake/pulley kit/cobb/flywheel etc...

your not going to get much from bolt on's maybe 20hp max... the only way to acheive about 225whp is if you invest close to 5k to stay N/A or put put in 7-10k for FI to get above 300hp. Our car is stock at 180whp 232hp to the flywheel. If your looking for high hp numbers with cheap mods do not get this car and look else where.

I think 5g's is a little to high, but I don't know what all is being included. So far my mod's cost me 1g even for the exhaust/intake/pulley kit, and it's going to cost me another grand for the cobb and the flywheel, but then again I'm a penny pincher.

yeah, I was thinking more of a full exhaust from new headers , mid pipe and cat back. Also cobb ap, BHR ignition coils, new sparks, stickey tires, RB revi intake & duct, pulleys, flywheel, clutch etc. After all said parts plus installation if your not able to do it yourself its running close to 5k or more.

I see now. The only thing I don't have is the header for my exhaust, cobb, flywheel. To have a shop put most of that on is where the money is going to go, that's why you have people like us that you buy a case of beer you have a fun day and not a where did my wallet go day.
