Deciding on new car. 06 TL vs 07 RX8. Advice?
hey guys, i know my post count is low but I've been lurking here before and just recently made my own account.
i'm kind of in a tough position. i'm interested in 2 different cars but figured I'd like some opinions thrown at me to help me make a decision.
I love the RX8, absolutely love it. Everything about it, being a rotary, to the looks, the way it sounds, the way it shoots down the track. /boner.
One I'm currently looking at is an 07 BB MT. Clean as ****, low miles around 40k some and it's an 07 which means a bonus to the engine updates.
Other car is a 2006 Acura TL, more practical than the RX8 but also sharp looking. Gets better gas mileage than the 8, but who really cares about that. It's got low miles too, around 50k but it's automatic (ew).
I'm currently driving a 95 Mazda Millenia with 250k miles on it. I feel like the TL is pretty much the same as the Millenia. Which isn't bad but idk how reliable Acuras are.
anyone got an opinion? i know you guys all have 8s, so input is appreciated. but anyone here own a TL?
throw something at me, thanks guys.

Is the TL AWD? The TL is reliable and clean but kind of lame IMO. But then again I am a bit bias. But both can look clean. The TL is probably the responsible choice due to resale but performance wise it's a no brainer. The TL can be faster for less money but still wrong wheel drive and autotragic.

yeah, AWD would have been a nice bonus, but I'm so used to having a FWD car that it doesn't really matter much to me. Being AWD, RWD, or FWD.
That silver is exactly the color the Acura is. Those pictures were perfect haha. Both are sexy as ****, that's why it's such a hard decision. I like both. Which deep down inside I don't like because I can't decide lol xD.

you should be really comparing a bike to a trike.
I took my r3 out for a blast today after the winter. man I fogot how much fun it was driving a rwd car with a manual transmission and a rotary engine singing.

my biggest concern bout the 8 is that if something did go wrong, i wouldn't know where to take it. i'd hate to have to take it to a stealership if something went wrong, they'd rape me in the a$$$$$$.
The fun factor of the 8 totally evens out the fact that it's pretty much an exotic car that needs special attention when it comes to shops. sad.

that I will do friend, tomorrow actually. Driving both of them, just felt like throwing out the idea and maybe getting interesting opinions that help decide.

it will be a good time to learn working on your car.
it does not really need special attention just a bit more than say not paying attention at all. all you need to do is check oil once awhile and thats it.

Meh I never owned a FWD car. Either AWD or RWD or ehh. Id only do FWD if it was either luxury or just a beater car to get around. Just like what everyone said, for Performance and great looks the 8 hands down. Just for looks then its the TL.

yeah seems like a weird question. that year tl is really nice but their entirely different cars.
choose...a fun, relatively practical sports car
or
a nice, relatively luxurious sedan.
they're just different...do you want pizza for dinner or a hamburger. i don't know...it's a bit random. they're both good cars.

woman: OMG that is a nice RX8, will you sleep with me ?
You : of course
Woman : Nice TL, would you mind helping me move some stuff, my rx8 is too small.
you: sure ( hoping she sleeps with you then )

I would go for the Rx-8 of course. Just take it for a test drive see how you like it.
How much is the Rx8 and how much is the TL?
You can shop around and probably get an 07 Rx8 for about $15,000 while I think a TL would be a lot more, civics are around $15k for an 08 right?

lol i was close to getting a TL before I purchased my mazda 6, it was cheaper at the end anyway... gas at that time was 1.34 L so a v6 was out of the question, but now with the 8 lol, its not any better :P
so Op, it all depends on your priorities , will you drive it in the winter? do you feel the space in your 8 will be adequate, and are you able to give it special attention because it will require some... I say go with the 8 but im biased so yeah lol

well guys, i'm choosing the 8. Thought about it over night and during school today lol. Talk about not learning anything in school, was day dreaming about the 8 all day long.
I drove both. The 8 is going for 15k for an 07 with 44k miles on it. I got my Millenia for a winter car and won't need to drive the 8. Plus it's fucken manual, that's all I need.
@ Speed 8, perfect way to describe it hahaha.
I'll soon be an official 8 owner and not a lurker on the forums without one! YES!!!!!!!

Hopefully NYC_Driftking can Chime in his father owns a TL i believe..
IMO
There both sharp looking cars but its all about what you want to do with them. You won't find yourself going to local track events or even some spirited drive's on back roads with the TL.
But then you cant really get that VIP look with a Rx8...
Judging from your Avatar pic Get the 8. It seem's like your into the enjoyment of Driving, And the 8 is as fun as it Gets.
I own a FD but plenty of my friends own 8's and after being in the car with them around turn's I can assure you that you'll never get that same feel from the TL
