I recently moved to Dallas and even more recently bought an RX8. I know there will probably be at least one time when I will have to bring the car to the dealership for something. Oh...make that one more time since I went to a dealership yesterday to get something checked out. I really did not care for the service department personnel. Don't get me wrong, they were helpful and all, but the service tech just came across as full of _ _ _ _.

I know nothing of the reputation of the dealerships in the Dallas area, so I was wondering whether any of you are from the Dallas area and which dealership(s) make you happy.

I have heard alot of people say good things about the service at Freeman Mazda in Irving.

LOVE the service at Randy Hiley Mazda in Arlington. If you go, ask for Chantell, she own's an 8 and knows all about them. They also have a service guy there that has been working on rotary engines for 20 years or so. Good people, great service. I drive a little further out of my way just to get to them.

Stay away from Prestige Mazda...service is not the greatest, and if you have to leave your car overnight you get a rental that you have to pay the taxes on. They talk big, but don't live up to expectations. They are also way overbooked...oil change there takes approximately 4-5 hours. They are good at repairing the little/easy stuff (sunvisors, etc), but I would not trust them with my engine.

Those are the only two that I know myself, but I have also heard that the other Hiley dealership in Hurst is good.

I find something cosmetically wrong with my car almost everytime that I leave it with Hiley in Hurst.

Lol tiff, I go to the same dealership. Chantell is pretty competent. I need to go in for my 20k service, and tell them my engine ringing at 8000 rpms didnt go away.

Thank you guys for the input. Reason I ask is I bought a 2004 on monday. I noticed the driver's side headlamp did not align with the passenger side. The driver's side was a little too low. So after poking around, examining everything, getting the tools out to start taking stuff apart (didn't take it apart as it was late, but was tempted to), concluded the car has in fact been wrecked at least on the driver's side. Found some dirt in the paint on driver's side fender. That should not be there with a factory paint job. Anyways...

I figured the best thing to do was to bring it to dealer to inspect. So I brought it to Hancock. Now, the service rep who helped me was very nice. I liked him, but I thought he was a little full of _ _ _ _. He did not complain when I walked into the shop when he put it on the lift to check out the bottom of the car. Everything looked fine. In fact, looks like it was just cosmetic, as even the upper sub frame has not been replaced or straightened, or even painted (basically, there is a new fender and bumper cover. The low beam lens in the lamp assembly is bottom of center and that is the problem, so I have to give the guy credit for being sharp enough to point these things out). No overspray etc. You can tell the fender bolts have been removed. Tell-tale missing paint that happens when you remove a painted bolt with a socket. (Oh...and whoever replaced the light assembly used a salvage/junk yard light. You can tell from the sharpie markings on the light.)

Anyways, I started asking about prices, labor, etc. And we started talking shop.

End result was I thought like I was being BS'd. Well, maybe not BS, but at the very least, extreme puffing.

I called Freeman later and spoke with a service guy and a parts guy. I felt much better after that call. I didn't feel like they were feeding me lines of BS and they actually admitted, at one point, that they did not know the answer to one of my questions and would have to look into it. I respect that.

I have not dealt with Hiley yet as that dealership is not as close as the ones I have mentioned. But I will look into it.

Oh...and the end result is the dealer from whom I purchased the car is going to fix the problems. I drop it off tomorrow and will have it back by close of business friday.
