Dash glare?

Even though the dash is black, it does have some sheen to it. Under strong sunlight it produces more glare on the windshield than I'd like. Does anyone else have a problem with this? I am wondering if there are any dash-toppers available yet that would cut down on the reflected glare. Anyone have one?

I use Black Magic Dashboard and it is flat with no shine even though it says semi gloss on the container. It darkens the color but does add any sheen.

Did you use some sort of "protectant" on it?
The natural finish is quite flat and produces no glare. It was designed like that.
If you use Armor All or something similar, you will ruin the effect.
You should only use cleaners without gloss on the black portions of the interior.

All I've used is a microfiber towel with a bit of distilled water. For all I know the dealer might have "detailed" it but it doesn't feel oily or greasy. It's not what I'd call "shiny". The finish is definitely matte or even "flat", but at certain angles of incidence some sunlight does still reflect. It's not overwhelming but I'm pretty sensitive to visual artifacts. I had the same issue with my Miata and solved it with a cloth dash-topper. It's tough to make a hard surface absolutely non-reflective, especially with common vinyls/plastics used in cars. Black cloth does a pretty good job at soaking up stray light.

Hmm.
Try cleaning it with a light solvent like Orange Blast or similar.
I use the Armor All cleaning wipes which are gentle but very effective.
If there is any gloss, that will break it.

I'm usually pretty annoyed by reflections on the windscreen as well and I am particularly satisfied with the RX-8.

My GTI has some glare. Now I wear polarized shades (Maui Jims). Glare completely gone!
