I almost drove myself mad yesterday trying to isolate a creak while opening the drivers side door.

I figured it was a good time to do so as I have both door panels removed for my speaker upgrades.

The sound was echoed inside the door, making it difficult to hear its origin......
I greased the hinges and door check with white lithium grease. Still creaked as I opened the door. I then removed the door check assembly.......no more noise. I said OK....all I need to do is grease the hell out of this thing and I'm done. So I replace the newly greased door check and .......creeeeeaaakkk!!

WTF

So I have a bad door check. $28.50 from Rosenthall Mazda.

I have two choices. I can get it fixed under warranty (defective part) and have my door panel removed...again... by a tech in a rush to do so, and at least half a day spent between driving to and from and the time for the work itself. Not to mention I'm sure they dont stock the part, so I would be required to come back.

No thank you, I'll suck up the 30 bucks and put it in myself. My door is already apart after all.
