Crashed my 8 :(

You guys probably don't think this but I'm a really good driver. This was just an accident where I got distracted by many things and didn't break fast enough on a wet slippery road. For a 16 year old I take perfect care of my care. I'm in auto tech and have already changed the brakes, plugs, and the fluids all by myself. I believe I am getting it fixed. It's in Master tech
(www.mastertechcollisions.com) and the guy who owns it is a very good friend of my dad. (Biggest body/repair shop in all of delaware) They said anywhere from 3-6k for the damadge..... Regardless I am getting it fixed and throwing 2 stacks of my own money on it.

At 16 you probably think you're the **** when it comes to driving and *******. Truth is... you're a long way from being good at both.

I had two RX8's when i was 18 :p
I can understand what you're on about with young drivers (as i am still one)
I've hit two cars now, both my own fault due to inexperience in my Glanza (86hp hatchback) only little bumps but still enough to do some damage. but i haven't hit anything in either of my RX8 231 Luckly. admittedly iv'e span out on track days but nothing serious lol.
Live and learn.

No it doesn't lol. At all! A 45 year old at 18? That's good on her, not you. Now a 25 year old at 16 that's a different story and that was me. Now I'm 31 with a 24 year old

If the deer hit the roof, then the damage might have made the insurance company not want to risk repairing that part of the car, or;
Your insurance company sucks, undervalued your car, you didn't protect hard enough, and they screwed you pretty good. Hope they used a little bit of lube, but they usually don't.

WTF? That was a write off? jesus, that's just a new wing and front end to me assuming no damage to the engine which doesn't look likely... could you have not just picked up the parts and done it in your own money? I'm not understanding that... I'd just say that was a normal collision? Am I missing something here, surely you didn't send that to the scrappy and repaired it?

insurance totaled it and gave me no option to buy back. 05 that left the lot with the good flash in 06, and only had 60k. luckily I got my exhaust off of it, but my drilled/slotted rotors and cermic pads as well as the Megan racing springs were a loss. I did fortunately have my winter wheels on though. they totaled it and gave me 2 days to get the parts off of it

Such a shame that mate... I thought you didn't' have it anymore, but didn't realise the damage was so small... It was such a lush car... infact my 19 year old son reckons it's the sweetest he's seen and nicer than mine lol... he loves the white ones that are understated and yours was certainly that.

OMG GUYS THREAD REVIVAL.
No, but seriously, I'd agree on having the 8 as a first car being... a poor decision.
My 8 is my 5th.
98 Concorde LXi, paid 1300 for it from my "life savings." It croaked 3k miles later due to a rod knock, it had the 3.2L too
Then came the 01 Stratus Coupe. Loved that car, all I ever did was struts, eibach pro kit springs and a clutch. Traded it for my 99 Durango at 197k Miles.
Then about 45 days later sold the Durango for 5500 cash, then put that down on the 8.
As far as that goes, I do consider myself an excellent driver at 20 thanks to AutoX and carting as a child. I've already replaced the engine and transmission in a friends pole barn over the winter. By myself I might add. I of course had some help from you guys here on the forum :P
All in all, it was a mistake getting this car, don't get me wrong, I love it but I wouldn't buy another. I was two months shy of turning 18 when I bought it. It's been hell, engines, transmissions, wiring harness spontaneously combusting and various other things.
Some parents think they are doing their children a favor by purchasing them nice, newer model sports cars at a young age, but it's truly a recipe for disaster.
At 20 I'm accident and ticket free, and still paying 167/mo for insurance through State Farm. It's not cheap, nothing is for this car.
