Cost for oil change + rotation
Cost for oil change + rotation
I paid $80 at the dealer for this. I am not sure if this is acceptable or not. It was just for an oil change and a tire rotation/balance. Should I feel ok?
Balancing was done (according to the paperwork). This was at Potamkin Mazda. I don't necessarily have a problem with it, I was just a bit suprised. But if you all think this was reasonable, then cool. This was my second dealer oil-change. Mileage is like 8700. I did my own change in the middle, somewhere around 5k.
When I bought my car, I purchased a rotation/balancing and road hazard package from Discount Tire. After the life of the tires, the costs will be pretty close, but you get more for the money with the tire shop because you get the road hazard. Plus, if you notice tire wear sooner than the normal 6-8K miles, you can rotate them sooner at no cost. You'll pay for it each time at the dealership. Not to mention that you will get in and out quicker at the tire shop than you will at the dealership.

Why did you need balancing at less than 9000 miles? Any flats, remounting, compalints from you, request that they do it...whatever??
My dealer in Houston offers a plan wherein I pay for the 15,000, 30,000 etc service at regular (very reasonable) price and the oil changes in between are FREE!!! And it almost never takes more than 2 or 3 hours.
I had my tires drop-shipped by TireRack to the local Firestone shop, bought their road-hazard plan, and go to them for wheel and tire problems.
P.S. I also really like Discount Tire (Houston, San Antonio), but they aren't in this market.
